Jungle Cruise
Does the jungle cruise run on a track? Do the skippers have to do anything other then deliver the spiel and shoot the hippos?
-
Unless I'm mistaken, yep, the boats run on a track. That's why the water is the color it is.... so you can't see the track, that and of course it makes for better jungle water.
I'm sure the skippers have other duties besides running through the spiel and shooting hippos and whatnot, things I would think would be expected such as cleaning up their boat or turning over lost articles to lost and found or whatever, just like most of the Disney CM's, but what else exactly they have to do I wouldn't really be able to tell you.
Upcoming Trips to WDW:
Dec 6-10: Disney Wonder
Dec 10-19: Port Orleans French Quarter

Yes. The skippers do other things besides driving the boats. Some of the things include working the FP machines (if JC still has it), loading the boats, and other things. And sometimes they can do crowd control for the parades.

I went on the Keys to the Kingdom tour and went on the ride.
The CM's have to make sure that they know their speel.
also they have to make it up. Each CM has certan guidelines fo their ride speel bt most of it is their own material. They are also allowed to make up their own jokes.
They also have to have a number of different ways ofdoing the same speel, so they a) don't get bored for their shift b) but also so nobody returningfor moe than one ride, gets the exact same ride experience

Thank you,
been on here and listening to WDW radio for about a year now and thought that some forum matters needed the attention of this UK all things WDW fan

Track is a loose term; the boats are tethered to the track but do have the ability to bohb and weave; hence the bumps at unload. Skippers also control the speed of the boats and start and stop them.
-
You mean all this time, I haven't been really driving the boats?

Correct! DING DING DING!!! Tell her what she's won Johnny!
Some of the 'things' we do at the jungle are as followed but not limited to:
-driving the boat (whether you think it's real or not, we still drive them, so there! :p)
-front load (one of the harder positions due to the unique seating pattern)
-swimming instructor
-back load
-aligator wrestler
-front unload
-snake charmer
-back unload
-tourist wrangler
-greeter
-ballet tap teacher
-FP greeter (checks tickets)
-cruise director
-FP merge (most stressful position where everyone hates you for holding up their line)
-lion tamer
-pirate strollers
-bad joke teller
-PAC duties (parades, crowd control and PACtivities)
-stand around and 'look' busy

I bet you were the master at the last one!
-
Sure was, that last task was the most challenging of them all. Not many could pull it off as well as I had
-
It can sometimes be hard to pull off "looking busy" especially during PAC

Just play with the ropes, clip and unclip them and then stand and stare at them for several minutes looking puzzled, scratch your head, and repeat

Tried that in frontierland, some of our managers were PAC nazis. If we didnt have a guest out in the parade route playing some sort of game they bothered us.

Ever played the "cone game?" Our managers loved it soo much they decided it was too much fun and pretty much made sure we don't play it anymore. I guess there is a thing as too much fun at Disney
