My son was the first person in the family to enjoy a turkey leg. The first time was when he was not quite four years old. Everyone was laughing and pointing at the little cave boy being pushed in a stroller as he gnawed away on that thing bigger than his head!! He turns 21 this Fall, and still loves them!

The turkey legs look pinkish on the inside which is kind of off-putting, but once I bit into one it didn't matter. They are a good mid-day snack when at Blizzard Beach.
I spit my coffee this morning. Kelly of Regis and Kelly was speaking of eating Turkey Legs at WDW this past weekend while there for filming of the Parade.
She made the comment that they were not really Turkey but Ham. And went on to comment, not sure if true could be an Urban Legend. Funny when the Host of the Christmas Parade for Disney makes that comment on Air!![]()
Well, I agree that the legs taste like ham since they're smoked. I wouldn't imagine Kelly would know the difference since she probably only eats once a week anyway.
I remember them from when I was a child going to the parks many years ago. I didn't see any around this time, but I was only in the parks for one day. Still, I've always preferred white meat to dark, so they were never my thing. But with all the hundreds of thousands of breasts out in the supermarkets, I guess those unused turkey legs have to go somewhere!
But I thought they were really Emu legs...
I agree...smoked dark meat Turkey is going to be ham-like.

But Kelly said!
Does make you wonder what we are eating at any given time. Smoke it and tastes like ham.
We LOVE them! My husband thinks they are best enjoyed dipped in the Ken's Honey Dijon sauce!
I'm about as All-American as they come!
*Natalie*Must get a new trip on the books! I'm dyin' here!
Honey Ham.Sorry Couldn't help myself.

I remember seeing a special on the food network maybe five years ago about food at WDW and they had a part about the turkey legs.
Somebody please correct me if I am mistaken because I saw the special late at night and I was very tired, but they are in fact turkey and the preparation process is very long. If my memory serves me well I want to say it takes a few days to cook the legs from start to finish. They inject them with saltwater as well so that might be where a lot of the ham taste comes from.
Either way they are delicious and a trip would not be completed without woofing down one of those ****ers.
Disney World is not just a place, but an experience.
Back in the world for the 2013 Marathon Weekend!

From All Ears Hears:
The Lunching Pad in Tomorrowland in Magic Kingdom no longer
serves turkey legs. Disney is currently trying out three different hot
dog servings. The only remaining turkey leg location in Magic
Kingdom is in Frontierland.
