Question about golf carts at Ft Wilderness??

I just had a question regarding the golf carts that you can rent at the Ft. Wilderness campground. Can you take the golf carts around outside the campgrounds? For instance can you drive yourself to the parks in the golf carts or are you limited to keeping them inside the Ft. Wilderness resort area? It just seems pointless to spen the $50 something a day if you can't drive around outside the campground/cabin area. If you end up having to use the bus or boat system anyways to travel to the parks then are the golf carts really worth it? :mickeywav

The golf carts are limited to just the resort. However, I think they are worth it (Ft. Wilderness is huge, and really spread out).

The carts are great and you can rent from someone other than Disney for a much better price Kenny Patton Tee Time Golf Cart Rentals 407-276-0809. The cart was some of the best fun we had. The cart really helps save time driving yourself right to the main bus stops or boat with out using the internal buses. we used some decorations to help fine ours in the roll of carts. Just to cruse around FW or to go to the pool, store, dinner, movie with chip & dale trust us you’ll love it. & you will wish you had if you don't.

Thank you both for the useful info! I am going to look into other companies other than Disney. I assume they will be cheaper and I think they drop them off right oustide the Ft. Wilderness entrance. I am thinking it will be worth it, but it would really be nice if you could drive them right up to the parks. Oh well! Anyways thanks for the info!!! :D

I wouldn't want to drive a golf cart on the roads to the parks. It just wouldn't be safe to do so and there aren't any "trails" that would allow it.

Having a cart in ft. Wilderness is awesome. It's almost an attraction in itself if you have young kids. I had to do the cart ride for my 3 young ones every morning (it included a coffee stop at the trading post). After dark we also enjoyed cruising around the campground and watched dear and armadillos sharing the campgrounds with us.

The internal buses can be quite a long wait and their are cart parking at both the bus and boats loading areas. We used a disney cart, but would likely look into other options next time just to save a little money.
