D23 is the official community for Disney fans. They have special events throughout the year including an Expo at Disneyland in September and a line of merchandise. For more info, here's the website for it:

Seems like a scam to me. You pay so that you are allowed to pay more to buy special items. Man, Disney has a good thing going...

I could afford it but didn't join because I honestly don't need "collectibles", I'm only interested in the parks (not the Jonas Bros. or Hannah M.) and I was bothered by the snob appeal.

I went to the D23 Flower Power event at Epcot and after that I felt like I got my 75 dollars back from attending. I guess it all depends on how many of the events you take advantage of, but the events they have definitely let you earn your money back. That's my opinion anyways.

I don't understand why there's a snob appeal to it. Nothing snobbish about reading a magazine or getting insider info.

The whole "I'm D23" thing. The charter member thing. $16 for a magazine. Their target market was not typical fans...they wanted affluent ones. IMO it seems elitist.

I gave it a shot not sure what to expect and it has gone beyond my expectations! I'm into most things Disney however so having the magazine which discusses the parks, films, plays, music, and history is just an amazing outlet. I love my Celebrations magazine too, but it's nice to have something that covers all things Disney.
