MK Opening Family?

Ok. I know this has probably been discussed before, but I'm reopening the topic to see if there are any cast members with insight or fans who have been chosen before to be the family that gets to ride the train with the characters and participate in the opening show at the Magic Kingdom. I've always desperately wanted to do this and we're taking my DD next month along with my parents, brother, sis-in-law and niece. It would be the BEST memory of all time if we could manage to be selected.

So, anyone know how these selections are made? Should I get there even EARLIER than I do already? Should I dance? Sing? Tell me and I will do it!!!

Any tips or hints are GREATLY appreciated...

My family and I got chosen, we happened to get to the park before everyone else that day by about 90 seconds. I don't know what criteria they use, but this appeared to work for us. Click on the link to watch the home video. Thank you Unofficial Guide and Len Testa!

Ohhh! What a GREAT video! Thank you so much for sharing - I had goosebumps watching!! So, how early did you have to arrive to be first? I noticed you were there in July so I'm curious as to whether you had to be there even earlier to be first since it was peak season? THANK YOU so much for responding - this is fantastic!

We were following the touring plans in the Unofficial Guide. We also got lucky and all our transportation was early. We weren't trying to be first, it just happened to be our first day in the parks and we were excited and willing to get up and get moving. If I remember correctly, the Magic Kingdom was opening at 8:00 am and we were at the entrance between 6:45-6:50. Even being that early, folks came in right behind us.

Excellent! We are huge fans of the touring plans from Len Testa et al, too! I've always gotten there about an hour early, but that extra 15-20 minutes would be worth it! Thanks again for the insights!!

Well my family wasnt chosen to open the MK but we were chosen to ride on Mickey's float in the Jammin Jungle Parade which was very cool... i asked the cast memeber that chose us how they pick a family because i have been so many times and was dying for something like this to happen... they said its totally random about 2 hours to 1 hour before the parade and they just look around for a family that is having fun smiling and looking like they are having a fantastic time in the world... im assuming the same applies to be picked for the MK opening i would love for that to happen to me too!
