Taking a 15-month old to the Magic Kingdom

We are taking our 15-month old daughter WDW in a few weeks and my wife and I disagree on a few rides that we think she might enjoy and be able to ride.

Two are Pirates and Haunted Mansion. I say yes and my wife says no....
The third is Toy Story Midway Mania....I say no and the wife say yes

Who is right?

Re: Taking a 15-month old to the Magic Kingdom

We took our 15 month old cousin two years ago. We went on Pirates and did not go on Haunted Mansion. As far as Toy Story Mania it wasn't open when we went, but it should all depend on how the child reacts to being spun a little bit and the loud sudden noises of when you trigger an effect on the ride. It'd be hard to tell for your kid, but that's what we did.

Re: Taking a 15-month old to the Magic Kingdom

The woman is ALWAYS right!!! Just kidding of course!

We have taken both of our boys at various ages starting at 8 months old. We took them both on PotC and HM on their very first trips. You can never tell how your child will react until you try it. I say give it a shot...what's the worst that can happen?

TSM would be fine as well. You could position your daughter between you and your wife which should protect her from being thrown around during the swift twists and turns of the track. Again....you won't know unless you try!

There is not a trigger on the TSM ride. The ride car has a gun with a pull cord on it.

Re: Taking a 15-month old to the Magic Kingdom

My daughter has been at 8 months, 13 months, and 19 months, and 2 years.

At 13 months, she did very well except on dark rides where she wasn't with mommy. Other than that, she loved it all. We didn't take her on Haunted Mansion, but Pirates was fine, and TSM was one of her favorite attractions.

You can pull the harness down nice and tight on little ones on TSM, and she really enjoyed the spinning and speed. We didn't use the 3D glasses on her, as she really didn't understand them.

Ha, believe me, I know.

I'm saying, you can trigger special effects which will shoot water air, etc onto your car. Which can be a surprise/frightening.

Re: Taking a 15-month old to the Magic Kingdom

Your daughter will be able to ride on all three rides. My daughter's first ride was on Pirates and that was when she was about 2 months old. The same with Haunted Mansion. The only thing that scared her on Haunted Mansion was when someone in the next car started yelling really loud (it was a teenager trying to annoy his mother). She will be a year old on Halloween and on our last visit about a month ago she really enjoyed the stretching room and was trying to figure out where the voice was coming from.

When she was about 6 months old we took her to Toy Story Mania, I asked a cast member about child swap and the cast member said if I was comfortable bringing her on that she could ride. She sat on my lap and really enjoyed the ride.

I have found that parks with an infant is much less difficult than I expected and that there were few rides that she could not ride.

My kids did fine on those two dark rides. They really liked PotC at that age.
