Pop Century Building

Hi! I'm currently at Walt Disney World and I will be here for the week and we spen the last two days at Pop Century and as we looked off of our balcony, we saw a building that had big numbers on the front (like the front of Pop) and it had zeros, tens, twenties, thirties, and forties. Does anyone know what this is? Are they expanding Pop? Any comment is greatly appreciated!

at one time Pop was supposed to have all the decades of the 20th century. The building with the other decades in front was just about as far as it got before the 2001 events happened.

there have been rumors that it will be turned into an animation suites resort

Poor Pop, half built. Sadly, they began building before the 1st big economic down turn. Now it seems they are concentrating on DVC, rather than cash rooms. I wish they would build the other half of the resort, even with family suites, I think it would be very popular.

I think the rumor of the "Disney Animation Inn and Suites" came from Jim Hill, and was to be an entire rebranding of POP IIRC. I haven't seen too many of his items come to pass lately though.

There have been many times that people have sworn that they were doing work over there in the past two years, but they have been using the lots for staging for other projects, so there is always heavy equipment, trailers, etc. moving around over there.

They DID do some work on the two existing guest buildings, mostly to seal them up to prevent any further exposure damage to the interiors. That did breath brief hope that something was happening, but that was the extent of the work.

When Disney can forecast a large need for additional Value rooms, I bet we'll see them completed. Right now, any overbookings from them get shunted over to the empty rooms over at OKW and SSR. I'm hearing at least another year, possibly two, before they may be in position to add rooms.
