Rope Drop

Hi All,

MK has a rope drop every morning. I was just wondering....

1) According to the WDW website MK opens at 9pm (September when I'm going) - so does this mean rope drop happens at 9pm?

2) Are you allowed into the parks before rope drop to go to breakfast e.g. Crystal Palace? If so, how early before?

3) As I'm using Disney transportation, how early does it start so that I can get to MK?

Yes and it's awesome!!

1. if the park opens at 9 then the rope drops at 9
2. if you have reservations and your confirmation number then yes you can get to eat at Crystal Palace. You must show the confirmation number and your tickets to enter.
3. I really don't know( I think an hour before the parks open but I'm not sure) but I would try my best to get there a half hour early or so.

Well I think it is better to eat at the CP before the rope drop. The early breakfast starts at 8 a.m. so you can get in before anyone else if they do not have ADR. Usually we finish before the park opens at 9 a.m. or around that time. Since we are infront of the line and inside the park you can jump on the popular attractions right away no wait, then grab fast pass for it...jump to another popular attraction before the crowd is there. So you can really get to ride the attractions alot more that day.

In June of 2008 I had a ticket for the magic behind our steam trains tour for the 7:30 am tour. We drove that trip and I drove from POR to the Contemporary to park by 6:30 which was allowed since the buses don't usually start that early, but it was EMH for that morning and buses started arriving by 7 for the 8 am opening. It was alot of fun to be in the MK before everybody else was allowed in so I would try to get an early reservation for breakfast. Its just amazing to be on main street when no one else is there. Some of my favorite pictures are from that virtually empty main street USA. I'd post the picture but I can't figure out how to do it.

If you have an early ADR for CP, you can contact your resort in advance for transportation. Worst case, they will call you a taxi. Best case, they will use one of their vans to shuttle you over if Disney transportation has not started for the day.

I don't mind taking a taxi if necessary but I'll definitely speak to the cast members in reception when I arrive as I want to book it for our first full day.

So an early ADR for Crystal Palace then rope drop then regress into my childhood for 2 weeks.

That sounds like a very good plan.

Does rope drop happen at the Station or at the Castle end?

Both. The main rope drop is at the station. But there are also ropes blocking off each of the lands until 9am.
