Travel in late September
Does anyone know what the traffic is like during the last week of September/first week of October?
My wife and I would really like to go to the Food & Wine, but went in April last year and were pretty spoiled by light crowds, and great weather.
Also does anyone know when any "specials" for this time of year may be offered, or if there are specials during this time of year.
Thanks
Kyle

Re: Travel in late September
Hey Kyle, we went last September during food and wine and it was free dining also. The crowds were relatively light with the kids back in school, but free dining and the food and wine festival make it a little busier than you might think. Free dining was great and I saw a rumor on mouseplanet that free dining might come out the 29th for disney visa cardholders and general public May 1st. It was our first trip in September and it was still very hot. The average temperature for our trip (the 24th thru the 29th) was 95 degrees. We've gone several times in the summer so it wasn't bad but I wasn't expecting it to be that hot. Free dining let us try some restaurants we probably never would have tried. We loved Yachtsmans and really enjoyed Narcoossee's. Have fun, Dave.

During F&W, expect Epcot to be busy Fri through Sun as locals visit for the event.

Re: Travel in late September
I'm planning to go in late August... (being a teacher does have its negatives)
i have heard that because the southern states are in school; crowds are lighter...
but September should def. be light... for three reasons
1. All schools are back in session...
2. Parents probly do not want to take their kids out that early in the school year...
3. Even though there are deals, the parks generally are recouping from the summer... especially with the summer nightastic ending...
but NC_WDW_Daddy is right with Epcot and food and wine... could be busy...

I'm also a teacher (and so are most of the rest of my family) and I've only ever been at the end of August and in March which is our spring break... and August has always been dead in comparison to March. Using fast passes for the major rides left no lineups longer than 20 minutes. It's very HOT, but I like heat and March is often too cold for me.

yeh... the heat does not bother me either... and i figured with kids back in school, the parks should be more lighter than the middle of summer...
the only downside this year is the summer nightastic ends on aug. 14...
im arriving aug. 18...
i might miss the Main Street Electrical Parade...

I'm arriving the 15th! I miss it by one stinking day... I'm hoping they extend it or something
