i love the free dinning.. yeah you get alot of fun.. but you dont have to eat it all if you dont want too.. you can get desert to go for later that evening if you want.. im going to use my snack credits for food and wine and i love LOVE LOVEEEE using my table credits for character meals.. im not at disney unless i go to chef mickey's.. its a must.. and i usually eat breakfast there before hitting a park so im good and happy and can go along time before having to stop and get a snack or something.. this time im using 2 of my credit for royal table and i dont feel bad about it because its free dinning

But to get free dining you have to pay rack rate for the room...which for only two people may not be the best deal, depending on the class of room and what other discounts are available.

ITA, That's the whole key to "free dining", we figured the last time we did free dining we actually paid for the whole thing (because of the rack rates in the room) except for maybe $20.00. I've also figured it out for future trips where it's cheaper if I don't get "free dining" because I can get better room rates.
It's kind of fun to do the impossible!

yeh... im doing the DVC point rentals... and i got a room at the villas at WL for like 1100 for 7 nights... and the dining plan isnt that bad because DVC members get a little break on the price... (not much mind you... like 8 dollars a day or so cheaper)

I did the free dining for the main reason of not having to be so careful when choosing a cheaper restaurant. I also got tired of carrying a back pack that had food and water in it all day long.

yeh that does work... but be careful... some of those expensive places may cost 2 sit downs... i think Victoria and Alberts does... if it is even in the Dining Plan... i know all the shows cost 2 sit downs...

Re: Dining Plan? Or No Dining Plan?

I have a theory about going to Disney and how much I pay. I don't go as often as I'd like to...so when I do go I'm doing it up right. I'll pay alittle more so I can enjoy myself and not have to worry about the details or how much money I have to bring with. Disney is about relaxing and enjoying yourself.

I would say yes to the FREE dining unless they didn't have it...then I would be willing to pay for it. Like my Dad always said never turn down free food.

But "free dining" isn't really free. You need to do the math to see if it is worth it over other discounts. A 40% discount on a deluxe room (if you are the deluxe type) can often be a better deal than free dining at rack rate and just paying for the DDP.

Disney vacations are rapidly becoming a math exercise.

oh yeh i know... thats why many times the free dining isnt worth the money... if your gonna get a ridiculous deal on the rooms... WDW doesnt DO both..!
