When do the holiday decorations go up?

We were thinking of visiting around Christmas this year. Do you know when the holiday decorations go up and how long they keep the parks/resorts decorated? We were thinking of going a few weeks before or after Christmas.

If I remember correctly, they start going up the week of Thanksgiving so that everything is up by the week AFTER Thanksgiving and it stays up until after the New Year.

Actually all of the Christmas Decorations will be up this year by November 8th. This is the first date for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. This information was given to me a few weeks ago by an agent at the Disney number that I normally call when booking Disney for my clients.

When you see the Halloween decorations coming down, you'll see the Christmas decorations going up

I'm so glad to hear the decs go up early. We're taking my parents to WDW for their first trip in 2012 (ages away yet, I know!) but we were hoping to squeeze in a bit of Halloween fun and some of the Christmas festivities in one trip. Looks like if we time it well, we'll be able to do a bit of both within two weeks - hoorah!

The Christmas Decorations usually last until the first or second sunday in January. They seemed to have been left up later this past year....probably because the weather was cooler than previous years.

so how does one find out how to attend tapings of the WDW Xmas special that airs on Xmas day? we are making a special trip down first week of Dec. for that purpose, but can't get any info from anyone... any ideas?

All you would need to do is call. I tried booking a trip one year and purposely changed the week because they told me it was around the time of the taping and the parks would be very busy.

we have been on tv during the xmas day parade... honestly it is the first saturday in December... get there real early and stand on Main Street... try to get a spot in front and you will have to just wait... and wait... and wait... we were there almost all day that one year... but we did see ourselves on tv on xmas day... and people called us and asked if we were home or in WDW...
