refillable mug question

Why does the bottom of refillable mugs come off? I thought maybe to add ice or freeze but says "Do not add liquids".

Re: refillable mug question

I have a re-fillable mug and the bottom is not suppossed to come off. I did have the bottom on a travel mug I purchased come off that resulted in the mug breaking.

Re: refillable mug question

That is really weird that no one who replied knows what I'm talking about. I have attached a few pics to show how it looks. Having trouble uploading them. How do I go about doing that, keeps telling me upload failed.

I have one from 2006. Stayed at OKW. And yes the bottom comes off. Looks like maybe you can put ice in it?

Re: refillable mug question

You may not be able to post pictures at all because of your post count.

How old is this mug? There were two designs for the current promotion. The first one was one of the "skinny bottom/fat top" designs, where all the bottoms were white and the design wrapped around the top, wider section. Then there was the matching handle and cover which came in 3 colors. No part of it is meant to be removable (except the cover), but the inside is a separate piece of plastic from the outside and it is conceivable you could separate the two with some effort.

The later design introduced midway through 2009 and as far as I know still in use was more uniform, with the design most of the way down the whole mug, and the same matching handles/tops. As far as I know they do not have detachable parts either.

Re: refillable mug question

I gooftrop husband and I did try to put ice in the botton and it drip. I though maybe the mug was one of those that you put water in half way and froze this would let you keep the soda inside cold longer but gooftroop told me that the mug would crack.
