not sure.. you can call and ask.. asking doesnt hurt at all.. usually they like it paid infull 45 days before you arrive.. if they just refund it for you.. just rebook it?
Okay at the risk of embarrassing myself, I really do need some advice here.
Through no fault of my own, I lost my job last Thursday. The final payment for our November trip was due on Sunday 9/19/2010, from the $3,000 we owe $1,400, which I was planning on paying within the next week anyway. However, I was told when I called Disney Reservation line on Sunday night and made a $100 payment, that they may cancel my trip and take a $250. fee. She told me that I may be okay for about 2 weeks, and that they will send me a couple of notices before (which I haven't seen any yet).
After talking with my wife she doesn't want to cancel the trip, and the flights were not insured either. I will have it within the next week or 2, but I'm afraid they may cancel it on me. Has anyone ever had any experience with this? I would think they would just want the business and wait for their money.
I thought for sure, that years ago, when the time came, they just had us pay the balance due upon arrival, but maybe I was mistaken (I just thought we had done that a few years back).
Could use a few words of encouragement. Do you think I should call them and ask for an extension for a week or two while I get my finances in order? I will be calling them again on Wednesday to make another $300 payment. But don't want to if it's a lost cause????

Wow Sorry. When you make the next payment this week I'd inquire again.
Maybe they can put a notation in your reservation.
Chrissy is right though. If they do cancel it, you can just re-book it, it would be a shame to loose the $250 when finances are so tight as it is.
I've made reservations 4 days out in the past so it is likely at that slow time you'd be able to do the same. Hopefully they won't cancel them in the first place since they need the visitors and they have $1600 in hand and lets face it, that is better than the $250 they'd wind up with. Fingers crossed.

Thanks guys, I'm sure they won't cancel it without sending me any notices, so I figure the longer they take to get me the notices the more time I have. The lady on the phone seemed to think the whole process could take 2 weeks, if that's the case I'll be fine.
If I do get a notice, I will call them that day and let them know what my intentions are. I know if I cancel it I lose $250, and if they cancel it I lose $250, BUT, if I'm in a pinch, would they let me change hotels to have the price drop a little or would it still cost me $250 to downgrade the reservation to a Value Resort?
I'm thinking maybe I can downgrade if it doesn't cost me anything, to have it paid off, and then upgrade before we go down and pay the difference..... Is that doable, or will I get hit with fees? I wish they were open 24hrs so I could call them LOL

i dont know.. but that wouldnt be a bad idea and just still with a value.. yes i know it isnt as nice.. but with you being out of work.. i would go and still try and save a buck when i could

Yeah, think I'm heading in that direction, however don't want to lose the two hundred and fifty either, don't see why they would charge me to change a reservation.

i dont think they will charge you to do that.. i changed mine like 2 times.. and as far as i know i wasnt charged because AAA said they were to on their end but didnt.. something like $25 everytime

Sorry to hear about your job and hope things will turn around quick. I agree that your best bet may be to call and speak to the Disney rep about your payment options.

Well, I guess I spoke too soon, because I just received the email - However it does say, will be canceled if not paid within 30days of departure date. Which gives me 13 days!, so I guess I'll be okay. Only needed till next week. Lets hope they stick by their own system.
