Cinderella Castle Lights

I will be in WDW January 1st-the 8th and I was wondering if they will still be lighting up the Castle for a few days past New Year. I know Osborne will be going on until I believe the 3rd. I saw it last year and it was just incredible, I would love to see it again.

The Holiday Wish stage show and Castle Lighting will start 11/8/2010 and continue until 01/03/2011 -- so you are in luck!

I've never seen the "new" MK decorations - but at the beginning of the month we saw the trials for the castle lights from the road... pretty cool!

I have seen the lights in person, but I haven't actually seen the lighting-up process in person - just on YouTube. I will be in WDW in December and can't wait to see it as it happens. I totally get your excitement!

The castle lights were still there during Marathon Weekend this past January. The lighting show wasn't happening any longer, however. The lights were simply on as dusk fell. If they do that again in 2011, you should definitely still be able to see the lights in person.

When I transferred over to MK (back when I was in the College Program,) back in January, the lights were up 'til the end of the 2nd week, if memory serves me correctly (those are a ton of lights to take down.) I didn't complain-those lights were spectacular. It gave me more time to take a lot of pictures, as well. I couldn't take them earlier, as I was deployed to Studios for the Lights Festival (also something everyone should see.)

Since you're going to be there on the 1st of January, you'll be good to go. Just a heads up, though: During the holiday season, that place gets even more packed than usual. However, I think it's well worth it. Seeing those lights is one of the most breathtaking things you'll ever see.

When is a good time to see these lights?

Around 6:30-7. The place WILL be packed, but people won't all be crowded on Main Street waiting for Spectro (RIP ) If you have a 9 o'clock parade, then people will start staking out their areas at 8, thus packing Main Street. Seven is a good time because it's already dark then, and you want the sky to be pitch black. It helps bring out the lights that much more.

Easily one of my favorite disney moments was seeing the castle light up for the first time. It was so breathtaking.
