    Re: pets

I did see someone w/ a non-helper dog in the park this past October. Not sure how that happened. Pets aren't allowed in the parks.

Pets are not permitted in the parks, but WDW does offer high quality kennels or pet hotels depending on how you look at it.

They are only expensive if you a la carte services such as walks and playtime. It's 25 a day and you can go over yourself and walk and play with your pooch. There is also a new "luxury" resort going up somewhere for pets - that one IS pricey - but they get major pampered. I leave our dog at his vaca spot a little closer to home! 10 bucks a night and she cuddles him for free!!

The new Best Friends Pet Resort is your only option for pets at WDW now. All of the old kennels at each park have closed for good.

And it is amazing what can pass as an assistance animal now. I've even heard of a person getting a pig on a plane claiming it was an assistance animal. That was an abuse of the system in my book.

I hate leaving my dog to go to the World. I imagine it would be much better if she could travel with me and be waiting for me when we got back from the parks each day. I have seen several at downtown Disney and it almost makes me cry wanting my dog. She is going to make the trip sometime soon, but I am a little worried about her first plane ride. I dont' know how she would do.

And it is very amazing what animals can do for humans these days. Airlines require a prescription for the animal and identification in reservation. It behooves a person with a service animal to get a certification ID card. It just cuts down on the hassles. While the airline can ask for the prescription, they cannot require the passenger to prove the animal has been certified because there is a lack of consistency in training methods. The one Autistic boy with his service dog is so calm now in school with his pup. Before he was all over the place. These animals are amazing to their humans.

I always kennel my animals at a very nice spa here. The various dogs would have freaked if I left them for so long in a strange hotel room. Some of which require you to crate them while you are out of the room.

But if any of you really want pet friendly hotels...The on sight Universal Studio hotels have 'pet wings' so your pet can stay with you there.

Remember if it is too hot or too cold the airline will deny boarding for your pet. I'm not a big fan of pets going with the luggage.
    Some people are like Slinkies.

They aren't really good for anything,
but they still bring a smile to my face when I push them down a flight of stairs.
