I wondered about that myself. Was one of the Imagineers from Pittsburgh?

Interesting question...well this ride was essentially one of Walt Disney's prized possessions (so to speak)...maybe one of the Imagineers was from Pittsburgh...or Walt had some connection or knew someone in that city that he based the attraction off of

I wouldn't think that the family lived in the north, not with robins arriving for Valentine's Day. I always figured the family lived in the South where spring comes early.
Or maybe it's that Pittsburgh was a hub during the turn of the century with the steel industry booming.....it's also AWESOME so who wouldn't want to get information from da 'burgh!! Love dem Stillers!!!!
It's FALL?!? Already?!?!

Sounds like a Disney World Trivia question for Lou?![]()
Some people are like Slinkies.
They aren't really good for anything,
but they still bring a smile to my face when I push them down a flight of stairs.
Friends are Gods way of apologizing to us for our families.
Maybe Pittsburgh is mentioned because of KDKA.

A very plausible connection...

seems especially weird since the CoP was originally at the worlds fair in NY. even by early broadcast standards, NY to PA was not an absurd hike, as there was far less RFI and the low frequency broadcasts with giant antenna arrays was sufficient.
lets not forget... the current attraction is not necessarily the same as the original... there certainly was a different script originally that may not have included this line... i am not sure though...

I listened more closely to the new TTA narration this time around and the announcement says that four families welcome you into their home...
Guess they're abandoning the idea of the guy being over a hundred years old without ever aging? Odd that all four "different" men are all married to a woman named Sarah.
Dumb.
I was about to suggest KDKA. Which annoyed me to now end when AMC was running their series "Remember WENN". It was a station out of Pittsburgh when radio was coming into its own, though I guess "Remember KENN" wouldn't have worked too well. Whey they didn't just move it further east baffled me to no end.
But back to the original point, I agree with the odd comment, though if you've ever been to Pittsburgh, you know NOTHING interesting ever happens there, so if something ever accidentally did, it would definitely be news.
