I have been looking at various mickey merchandise from pins and postcards to plushes and the actual mickey in disney parks. i have noticed that the buttons on his shorts are every changing- sometimes white, sometimes yellow. Is there a reason for this?

It all comes down to the discretion of the artist. If I'm not mistaken, they are allowed to take some creative liberties with the color of clothing, but not the overall look.

Dreaming of Something Disney!
If you notice, any depiction of Mickey always shows both ears in plain view...regardless of which direction he is facing or if he has a hat on or not.
