Re: Grand Floridian question
I must Perice, you just never really know what Disney is going to do, logical to guests or not. They just did mega remodeling to the inside of the main building, right down to the marble floor so I'd be surprised if they closed. I'd stay at some other resort though while the major construction is going on. I would be more surprised if they did bring her dow during Christmas season, it is busy. The spa area I believe will remain closed for some time to come.
I can only remember a few times when a resort was completely shut down. In the DTD area they closed some of the original home/townhouse buildings while being transferred to the Disney Institute. Then again Insitute areas when going to a DVC. They shut down the Golf Resort/Disney Inn and reopened as the Shades of Green, now owned by the military, Disney's answer to Military discounts for hotel rooms for a small hotel with huge rooms. The original Port Orleans was shut down after 9/11 when WDW when attendance was poor and all the rooms and lobby areas were remodeled and the table service was permanently closed. Dixie was then shut by only by it sections and when brought back up was the combined resort of Port Orleans of the French Quarter and Port Orleans Riverside, Dixie disappearing altogether in the name. They closed the Treehouses and had International students living there until they demolished them and rebuilt completely.
The only hotel I've have heard to be heavily rumored to be brought down in her entirely in the the next five years or so is the Poly. Much like the rumors of the Tree Houses initially. Time and money will tell when and if that does materialize.
Some people are like Slinkies.
They aren't really good for anything,
but they still bring a smile to my face when I push them down a flight of stairs.
