from what I understand there is a CM with a headset probably behind the attraction (Not totally unlike the talking trash cans) and the next gen system of computer graphics with AI is being used for the screen
I just got back from Disneyland and my husband talked to a cartoon turtle. And the cartoon turtle talked back. And the same turtle also talks in DisneyWorld's Epcot. And I've been racking my brain to figure out how it was all done. Anyone got the secrets? I've searched the forums and can't find the answer to this one.
It is more brilliant Disney magic, and I don't mind spoilers so give it all away if you know how they do it.
Thanks for any ideas you can share.

All the people will look up and shout: "Save us!" and I'll whisper...'no'.
Who watches the watchmen?
I'm sure the actor playing Crush has good cameras/monitors to see the audience, but the turtle moves so often and gestures so clearly, I wondered how he was controlled. The facial expressions and the gestures were excellent. And Dory visited and even had things to say about a question an audience member asked.
I'd like to know how many possible variations Ellen had to record. My husband was in the back row and Crush also comments on what is happening in the first rows. There must be a second cast member helping to structure the show and talking to Crush through a headset to prompt the way the show will work. Maybe someone controls his body while the actor controls his face.
I'm just amazed by this show. I hope you can all go see it!

I think the one at EPCOT is closed at the moment still because last time I was at EPCOT, and the Living Seas is closed where Turtle Talk with Crush. But I hope it opens back up soon so I can visit it soon.
It's that great Disney magic!![]()
In the one at Epcot, if you look next to the screen, you will see some dark, semi-reflective, one-way glass. I'm sure the voice talent uses these to view the audience. Also, I don't think that Ellen recorded anythis for Dory...based simply on the amout of questions that Dory could be asked, I think they'd have to use a voice actor.

Really? They sure had me fooled, I was sure that's how they saw the audience!

I know that there is a person sitting behind the screen and I believe that there are cameras in the room, also lots of the clues can come from the CM in the room with the microphone.

They are not behind that screen. And the host just talks directly to Crush like the guests do.
