We've never had a problem, but you could always put them in your checked luggage just to be sure.
Yes, you've read the title right. And, you may laugh and think I'm joking....
But this is an honest question I have:
Among the sharp items confiscated by airport screeners, would my Disney lanyard pins be taken away?
We may be flying for the first time to WDW this fall (All other times we've driven to the World.), and of course we'd like to bring our pins to wear in the park. I wondered if screeners had problems with them.
Thanks!

I have had pins on my hat and they didn't take them away from me

You know, i never thought about that but it could've possibly been a problem. Now though, i dont think they will take them considering those large knitting needles are now allowed and would be way more dangerous than your pins.
I've gotten stopped for a few things...One time, I had a pair of scissors in my bag, and I seriously had no idea they were there. But when they went to take them out, they probably saw my pins, and they didn't say anything.
So no, they won't have a problem with them.

When in doubt, always go on the side of caution. Not only would you be very upset to have to turn over your pins, but the cost of replacing them would not be a happy thought. I think I've checked mine just because I try to take as little metal with me as possible as well as trying to keep the carry-on luggage as light at possible.

What will you celebrate?
Adult daycare for the kid inside you.
Hi MousekeTodd! I live in Indiana too! Just south of Fort Wayne!
They call me "Nana"
Hi, iwannabeminnie!
My wife and I are originally from Muncie, IN.
My mom used to listen to WOWO ("The Little Red Farm Show"), and when I was college age, I found WBCL, and enjoyed that immensely -- when I could pull it in!
I concur with the sentiments of when in doubt, just pack it up. There are plenty of job guidelines passed down by the FAA, but there is also a lot left up to the judgement of the screener there on the gate giving you the once-over.
(This is part of the reason I like flying with Southwest--three good check-ins, and you get one free 'sharper object' upgrade.)

Heck, Southwest would practically let me fly with a machete in hand, as long as I've got a signed doctor's note.

Oh, you are making me want to take my kids on a flight! Maybe I'll drive next time...
Honestly, Jake, you don't scare me with a machette---it is for the other people with machettes that I am not sure about. The thought of a 12 hour a day drive for two days with the kids doesn't sound like much fun either but that is what we are going to do next time.

Thanks, Gae. That's the nicest thing I've heard all day!
(For the record, I'd trust me with a machete before I would anyone else, too.)
