Florida AP holders - a question?
Hello all you Florida Annual Pass holders. I have been a pass holder since the day we moved to Florida (last July). yay! One question though... are we supposed to get a newsletter or magazine as part of our APs? I haven't recieved anything, and was a little curious.
oh, and one other thing - why are the passes made of paper? keeping them in good condition for a year is no easy task!!!
Thanks

Adam,
I just got aregular AP this past visit, and was quite suprised that it is made of that flimsy paper stock that the normal passes are. I agree... how can you be exepcted to keep that in good (i.e. readable) condition!? Why not just use one of the plastic cards like the room keys?? (Get a little something extra for your $$$$)!

Ace - it doesn't make sense, does it? How much cheaper can those paper ones be? - heck, i would pay a dollar more just to get the plastic ones.
With your regular annual pass, do you get a newsletter or a magazine?

Thanks MBabe -- I wonder why we don't get it. Now, if only I had someone to call and ask.
I guess I could always look at it online.

Adam - the pass is made of paper and mylar I believe. Pretty sturdy stuff though. We've never had a problem with them lasting a whole year, and we do use them quite often too!
To help keep them in good shape they supply a little booklet with all the AP discounts and info inside. Also, the back page has a little sleeve/slot to keep your pass.
Did you get one of those???
If not - if you go to any park guest relations they will gladly give you one!
-
I keep my AP in the benefits sleeve all the time, and if it does get lost or damaged it is easily replaced at any of the parks guest relations booths. I do however wish they were the hard plastic ID cards. That just seems a little more special. especially since I have a pass to all of the major parks in Florida, Disney is obviously the most expensive, and yet they are the only ones not doing the ID card style. even Busch's "fun cards" where you pay for one day and get the rest of the year are done as hard plastic ID cards with your picture.
the Mickey Moniter comes out 4 times a year I believe, but other than announcing discount rates and codes (which can be found online anyway), I don't find it all that interesting or informative.

I also agree that all passes should be plastic. I have written them many times on this. Same basic answer... $$$ It really can't be that much. I have rarely seen a plastic card have problem in the scanner/reader. The paper ones have trouble all the time. I go to the water parks often by myself and do not like spending that money daily on the locker to store a key and a ticket. It would save them reprinting for people like me who get it wet without trouble. I would love to see all plastic.
For those that don't get the mickey monitor just call the reservations line (or any Customer Service line) and let them know. I don't like the mail system they use to send these things out either. I got three of four last year. My family got all four. go fig.

That would work for me. I'll add that to my list of things to write them on. I am sure some still want the paper ones.. let'em have 'em

I totally agree about the cards... And I still haven't received my Mickey Monitor as yet. Ugh. Maybe a phone call or letter is in order.

when did you first get your AP? You might be between issues.
-
-
If I remember correctly that is about the same time the last issue came out. I would think that you should recieve the next one, but a phone call deffinitely wouldn't hurt (Ithink I remember having to call about my first one too).
$$$ is a lame excuse for not using plastic passes! Busch uses plastic for the fun passes that you get just for paying a days admission, but Disney can't use plastic after I've shelled out $300 or $400 on their AP?! rediculous!

What's the old saying?
"Penny-wise and dollar foolish?"
