I'm not going to tell you why, you have to read my pre-trip report! But I am in need of 2 things.
1. A grocery store off Disney property but close.
2. A restaurant off Disney property but close to the grocery store.
Well, maybe those two should be switched. I'd rather get a great restaurant recommendation and then find a grocery store from there.
For the restaurant, nothing too fancy but not Bob Evans. It's just two adults, me and my sis. No kids. We have open minds as far as food type but not a ton of money.
Thanks, Orlando experts!
Right outside Downtown Disney is a shopping center, when you exit past all the hotels, that has several restaurants. I think it's called Crossroads. In fact, just about any direction outside WDW has several restaurants from which to choose. I don't have my handy map right this minute, but maybe the next poster will give some more exact road numbers.
I'm guessing you will have a car? When you leave disney property by going out Hotel Plaza Blvd, you come to 535 - Apopka Vineland.
To the right and there will be a super Walmart about 3 miles on the right.
If you turn left off of 535 and head to the outlets, there is a publix behind the outlets
If you turn right on 535 and go about 2 miles there is a Winn Dixie.
Straight across 535 is Crossroads Center and a Goodings is there. Pricey, a great bakery, but close and still cheaper than onsite.
There are 3 Hess stations on property and they have some decent prices on some basics. Also a great value on fast pizza and quick subs. Only Coke soda products.
Walmart is cheapest, a huge store and even busy at 3 am.
I prefer Publix and do most of my normal everyday shopping at Publix. Some think it is a bit more expeensive than other chains, but it is my preferred grocery. They have a fresh sandwich deli that makes yummy subs and wraps to take back to the room with you.
There are a few restaurants in Crossroads Center that many like. Also if you turn left onto 535 from Hotel Plaza, and go up one block, on the left at the next traffic light you will see Orlando Ale House. A local chain, has about 40 different beers, and a really good menu. I frequently will stop at the one out by UCF at Waterford Lakes. And if you turn right off of 535 onto Palm Pkwy, there are a few more restaurants in a shopping area there.
Let me know some specifics for food you are looking for and I will give more ideas.
"I hope that we never lose sight of one thing, that this was all started by a mouse." Walt Disney
Publix would be the cheaper option from Goodings which is the Grocery store in Crossroads. If you go to 192, you will find EVERY restaurant in the world and a LOT of publix to pick from.

You mean there is something outside of WDW? I thought all that "Orlando" stuff was just theming for WDW!

Wow, thank you all so much for the treasure-trove of information! I am going to print out all of this and take it with me to FL.
We'll probably hit Publix, I LOVE that store! Takes me back to my University of Florida days. Ooh, I want to live in Florida again!
Thanks again everyone! XXXOOO

I got excited when I saw this thread because I'm an ORLANDO BLOOM expert. But that's not the Orlando you were talking about.
Try Camila's Restaurant. It's near some groceries and you call them by phone and use their bus. If you're thinking that's interesting, I can send you the number phone.
