Beyond the Parks Discuss The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in the Vacation Planning forums; I was just browsing the boards and noticed there wasn't a general wwhop/harry potter thread. Has anyone been to the land? Thoughts?...

Re: The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

We were there Thanksgiving Day - not the time to go - at least not when it's the first real holiday it's been open! There was a point where NO ONE was moving, it was so crowded.

At first, they tried to limit the number of people entering, but that ended by the early afternoon. Which was stupidity on their part.

The theming is awesome. Forbidden Journey is a great ride, but not sure why we had to wait outside (even with our Express pass) and once you got inside Hogwarts - NO LINE! The employees were telling us to move along. If we wanted to see something, to pull over and let others by. VERY FRUSTRATING!

I'm not a Harry Potter fan, but have a daughter who really is - so this was for her.

Frozen butterbeer is delicious, but expensive.

I've been there quite a few times (I have an AP to Universal), and love it there. The theming is incredible, Forbidden Journey is probably one of the best rides I've ever been on, and Butter Beer is delicious (especially the frozen version).

Re: The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

Just back from WWOHP, it was great. The theming was immersive to say the least. Once you walk into the land you feel transformed. We got luck and hit it the first time after it rained and it was empty. The next time we went for onsight guest early entry and were able to enjoy it almost empty again for a couple hours. The last time we went in, by 10am the place was nuts. Even with the massive crowds, the only lines are for FJ and Olivanders. I gotta say, if I waited in line for more than 10 minutes for Olivanders I would be very upset. The show left a lot to be desired. We were able to walk in to Olivanders on the next show so we went twice. My middle son was picked and enjoyed it. My oldest son wanted to get picked so he went 9 more times, walking into the next show each time. Never got picked, but he was a good sport about it.

Really enjoyed the new queue on Dueling Dragons/Dragon Challenge and the new additions to Flying Unicorn/Flight of the Hippogriff.

The area isn't very big and even with massive crowds, you really could do everything in the land in 4-5 hours tops.

Re: The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

Hi, new here. We went in October & were only able to spend a few hours at the WWOHP. I thought the whole "world" was awesome, and would've gladly spent a lot more time there if able. The ride that takes you inside Hogwarts where you feel like you're flying (sorry, the name escapes me!) was incredible. Probably the best ride I've ever been on in my life.

I did try the butterbeer, but you all are making me wish I had opted for the frozen!

Really, I'd love to go back & plan a good half day just for Harry Potter!
