I read your post before your interview, but I didn't have any advice to share. I am curious as to how you felt the interview went and when you will hear if you will be offered a job?
I intend to apply to be a cast member in 2008.
This is just a tad late, but I figured I would give it a try.
Jackie O is applying for a job at the World tomorrow and is looking for any CM's advice you may have! I'm just a wee bit nervous, but hopefully my enthusiasm for WDW (among other things) will aid in getting this job. Any and all advice is welcome, thank you in advance!

Thanks Mini-V and Lou!
Here's a report of what happened. I arrived promptly for my interview in the Casting Center, which was very neat to see, yet was smaller then I had imagined. I watched a short training video and filled out the applicatioin and placed my resume inside of my file. (Quick trivia insert here - Do you know what the CAST in CAST Member stands for?? I didn't until this interview!)
The interview was great, I walked in confident, smiling and enthusiastic. My interviewer was very nice, but to the point. The bottom line?? I got the job. But taking this job would cause a significant decrease in my salary and right now I just don't can't do that. It is really upsetting, because I would love to live this dream and it's sitting here in my lap and I just don't know what to do. If I take this job, I will have to drive an hour everyday, since I will need to move. Sigh... I suppose fate will take me in the direction I should be.
It was SO busy in there!! Thanks again for your kind words![]()

Remember, Jackie O....
All things happen for a reason. Perhaps a funfilled career as a CM at this point would limit your time to ask questions to which you wish to know the answer...
Or...limit your time for MouseFesting...
Or...limit your time for WDT BoardPosting...
Or....well okay....it stinks that it wouldn't work out - but remember that if your heart is in your dreams...well you know.
Hold onto that spark - you'll get there someday when it's just right.

What terrific advice! Yes, you are right Jonathan. Everything does happen for a reason, I'm a firm believer in that. I will find my nitch in time, I just hope sooner than later! So it seems the voice of mousetunes is also the voice of reason!
Sigh.. isn't life grand???

Me....ME?!?!?! The VOICE OF WDW?!
I am so taking that job.
*blush*
Frankly Jackie - I'm flattered you even think I could hang with the big guys enough to be merely a voice NEAR WDW.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

From my experience, no doubt everything does happen for a reason. Ok for us who are a little slow, what does CAST mean? Also, is it true Disney really does not pay that well?

I think being called a cast member is just to show that everyone is on stage and that you have a part to play in making the magic happen.
Making a job change, especially when it means having to move to a new location, is tough to do. I guess you have to decide if you can LIVE on what Mickey is prepared to pay, and is there room for moving up the corporate ladder? The Orlando area is not cheap and you don't want to have to take a second job just so you can be a cast member.
Good luck in whatever you decide to do.

Believe it or not, the CAST in Cast Member actually does stand for something..
C- Compensation
A- Appearance
S- Schedule
T- Transportation
All the basics of the Cast Member position, if you think about it.
And you would absolutely fit the bill as the voice of WDW, Jonathan. I can just hear you spieling on the Monorails "Por favor mantenganse allejado de las puertas" (I may have just butchered this, you'd think 4 years of spanish would've helped).
I believe that within Disney the room for company growth is each persons own responsibility. If people want it bad enough, they will do it. I would think this position has promise especially since I'd pour my heart and soul into it, but the paycut is just a major turn off. So is the long haul to and from work. I have lived in Orlando before and although it's growing more and more dangerous, I love it there. From what I could see in the interview, Jobs such as character attendants/attractions and similar duties in the parks, the money is decent for the job that's being done, granted all day long your job is to keep people happy. But for the position I have applied (which will remain nameless, sorry.. lol), It is quite unbelievable how little one can make doing certain jobs. I have to decide by Saturday, thanks for all of your support guys!

Well, I'm sad to say I turned down the position. Although I felt horrible, I knew it would be too much change in too short a period of time. Also, I would've been losing more than gaining more. I'm sure the right thing is out there for me somewhere, sooner than later I'll find it.Thanks again everyone.
