Cosmetology in WDW

I'm an aspiring Makeup Artist, but I'm a WDW fan before I'm a fan of makeup (of course!). I did my research and noticed that they do offer positions in their cosmetology department for applying makeup to face actors for meet-and-greets, parades, etc. If any of you know the answer to this I'd be surprised, but I was wondering whether or not it was either an option to take as a CP intern, if I could get some kind of entry-level job without a state cosmetic license, or if I could do something to get my foot in the door at WDW.

Cosmetology isn't on the application, if memory serves me correctly. But Costuming is, and makeup may fall under that category.

As for a State license, I don't know the answer to that, as that possibly falls under Florida State law. I don't know if there may be a special exemption for Cast Members, or potential Cast Members.

Sorry that I can't be more helpful, but I think very few people would know the answer to that particular inquiry.

The performers actually apply their own makeup (just a heads up).

That I didn't know. The Performers I met never mentioned it. But I also never asked.

i do know this much.. i am a master stylist here in ky and while at BBB i asked her is she had to have a lic to do what they do.. because basicly it is applying makeup and do a up-do styling..

she said that some did have lic's.. the rest of them had to take a 30 hour course to get lic to do just the basics and disney done that for them.. now i do also know that in the state of fl. if you have a lic from another state already all you have to do is go in with you lic and pay a fee and you will have a fl lic.

i would like to work at disney in my field.. doing wig care for the cast or something.. if you think about it.. their are alot of wigs and fake hair in wdw.. on top of the spas areas..

my advice to you is if you dont have a lic.. get one because that will make you a shoe in , in one of those areas.

To get a license in FL you have to take a class on HIV/Aids and have proof from the state that you hold a current license in the amount of hours of school you had. That's what we had to do to get ours.

oh to be able to live a dream of doing hair and makeup for disney would be totally awesome

I think you will be needing to have a cosmetology license before you enter WDW, I am not sure but WDW will definitely hire people who hold license in this field. I think you can go for online cosmetology schools as well for this license.
