I got this email today:

Hi Jim!
First of all, I do sincerely apologize for the delay, we needed to take an extra couple of weeks to make sure that everything was just right (it being the first issue and all), and there was some late breaking news from Disney that we wanted to get into the first issue (and I unfortunately was a bit guilty of some over-optimism!). However, I am happy to say that the first issue is printed, completed, and mailed out...I actually talked to the mail house today and they said that it should be arriving towards the end of the week. We sincerely appreciate your patience, and do hope you enjoy it!

I was hoping to get it before my trip a few weeks ago. But now I have something to look forward too now that I'm home.

Glad to see this board is civil. There are other boards that are calling for Lou's head because of the delay!

Well, while I don't agree with doing it... I can see rationale behind it being that the original date was supposed to be mid-September. Still, I'd rather have it be everything I'm hoping it'll be then come "on time" and be a disappointment. So I'm patient and can't wait to find it in my mailbox this week!

Every new enterprise can run into unforeseen delays, and something as complicated as a magazine that needs to be timely, has many contributors, and then is printed and distributed by a company you have no control over.

I think it is a Disney tradition anyway - ever notice just how many books published by Disney Press or Hyperion miss their release dates? Speaking of which - Imagineers Field Guide to Disneyland is due out November 4th!

I am looking forward to finding my 1st issue in my mail box. I also don't mind it is late & that it is complete with all the information Lou & Tim wanted to get into the magazine. I'm not a person to rush so I totally understand. Thanks guys for bringing us the magic.

For those people that are complaining on the other boards I dare them to take on something like this and stick to a schedule 100%. Things happen that can't be controlled and complaining about it doesn't make it any better. We should all be thankful that there is going to be this great magazine to look forward to in the future.
