2nd course...where we start to get a little adventurous at Napa Rose:



On the left is a Pheasant Pate, middle is fried chantarelle mushrooms with watercress, right is pickled veggies

Golf ball sized. But it's an amuse bouche, so it's supposed to be bite-sized. Essentially the first bite that the chef uses to set the tone for the meal.

Yea, I was just bein' silly.

Everything you've posted since also looks sooo good!
I'm a pretty adventurous eater myself. I'll try just about anything once.

Oh ok! It's hard to tell tone over the internet

Yep, I know what ya' mean. That is probably my biggest pet peeve about this form of communication.

That's why I use a lot of smilies sometimes. And even then it sometimes doesn't convey exactly how ya' meant it, a lot of times.
I find myself searching for just the right one sometimes, and finally just say to myself... "Well, I guess this one will have to do."

The pheasant pate looks from the picture like there is flavors infused. Good? It was also plated very well and I believe I'd like everything.

Terrible that I now want to plan a trip to DL for a meal. Can't wait for the next plate.

I was a little apprehensive of the pate. It's definitely out of my comfort zone. It's still not something I think I'd go out of my way to order, but the dish was really different and I loved trying all the flavors.

My Mom was out in Anaheim for a convention last year. She had to entertain clients and knowing I had been to DLR before, asked me for suggestions. Most people were going to Ruth's Chris or similar, so I recommended Napa Rose. The entire table absolutely loved it and my Mom got major bonus points for taking them somewhere different.

Beignets are so cute. Were they any good? So disappointed in the ones at French Quarter vs the real New Orleans ones. Like comparing Le Cellier Poutine to Canada's real thing.
