Coral Reef Restaurant - Epcot

Hi Everyone!

Has anybody been to the Coral Reef Restaurant at Epcot, part of the Living Seas?
And if you have, How was it? We are trying to map out some places that we never have visited before, and were looking for a nice, cool sit down restaurant, And searching some of the sites I came across this restaurant. I can't believe this will be our 8th time down to WDW and I've never seen the Coral Reef Rest. or Mama's Italian food, we also would like to try the 50's Prime time. It seems like we always end up at Sci-Fi or other pizza/burger/chicken fingers places.

Also, should we make reservations before we go down in Oct. Or wait till we get down to WDW???????
Thanks
Ricky PS. we love the Fish & Chips at Epcot's EnglandIt ROCKS!

I have been to Coral Reef several times and have enjoyed it each time. I haven't had any bad food there, but don't have any particular favorite meal. The atmosphere is great. A friend of mine was done there recently and asked for a diver to come down with happy birthday for her daughter and they did it.

I suggest that you make ADR (it seems that everyone is doing that now). You would need to get ADRs when you get there for sure. Also ask for near the window to the aquarium. All seat are situated toward the window, but being closer is better...I think.

CALL NOW!!! That way you have a better chance of getting the restaurants you want.

We have gone to Coral Reef. My children really enjoyed watching the fish as they ate. We all loved 50's Prime Time. It is a wonderful experience and one the kids really remember. We are planning on going back to both of these this next trip. I can't wait!!

CALL NOW for your dining reservations!

Goofy Guy, Coral Reef has great food. Love the atmosphere. Also, the Sci Fi takes us back to the "good ole days" of drive-in movies. I think the food is a little heavy for an evening meal, but we love the milkshakes. Definitely make ADR's before! I always confirm my reservations before we leave home, but I am sure this is not necessary. Have a great time!

I don't think I've ever had a bad meal at the Coral Reef.

Love the Coral Reef. I prefer the dinner menu tot he lunch menu but that's just a matter of dining preferences. Ditto on what GAE and Maybe said call now this is always a very busy place and very popular so make your reversations as soon as you possibly cam
50s prime Time is also an excellent choice. Just keep your elbows off the table (eat there and you'll see what I mean).

Hi SnwhtNdwrfs and all....,

You guys were all correct in telling me to Call Now!!!! because I did. and out of the whole 8 days we'll be there, the only reservation I could get for our Anniversay Dinner at the Coral Reef was 10/23/07 at 8:20PM its a little late for the baby, but I think we'll be okay. Our Anniversary is actually the next day 10/24 but they were all booked. I did mention it to the CM, when we called and made the reservation, she said she'd put a note on our reservation noting the Anniversary, I also told the person I spoke to when booking the room.

We got a preferred room at Pop Century CLASSIC YEARS (does anybody know if this is a good building?)
We also, recieved our two tickets in the mail today for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party.

And made reservations for 3 character Meals: Chef Mickeys(dinner), Crystal Palace(Breakfast), and Hollywood and Vine at the Studios(lunch).

Ricky

Hi Chrissy

I told the resort it was my anniversary when I called and booked which was just the other night. We kind of did things backwards this time around. And actually booked the flights 1st with Southwest, then called and ordered the Halloween tickets (because those sell out really fast!). then knowing we'd be there bewteen 10/19 and 10/26 we were able to book the character Meals. Then last Saturday we called and booked the room and the Coral Reef at the same time. Thats when I mentioned the Anniversary. Funny you mentioned AAA, because I am a member and I was told if you tell them your a member your supposed to get a discount something like 10 or 15% - but I forgot when booking. Do you think I should call them back?

I'm not sure what tickets you are referring to, but the Halloween tickets where a complete surprise when we got them in the mail yesterday, they look great! They are the hard plastic creadit card looking (like the room key or the hopper passes you buy at the Disney Store, each one has a different theme on it and it looks very collectable. Mine has Mickey in a Halloween costume with Ghosts, and my wifes has Cinderella and Prince Charming putting on the glass slipper.

I asked the lady doing the Coral Reef reservation if we could have a preffered seating by the glass to enjoy the fish, she said to ask when we get there that night. I wonder if they don't have a place there if we will still be able to see the fish and enjoy it as much.

Ricky

I second the comments that this restaurant is great. The atmosphere is really nice and the view of the tanks is great. Just... plan on spending a lot. My DH and I went together before our son was born and just for the two of us it came to over $100. I ordered the crab cake appetizer which was like $12 and I thought that was multiple cakes... it was one crab cake. The food was excellent but definitely not cheap.
