Kouzzina was yum!

Decided to check out Kouzzina over the weekend. It was great!

Here's what we had:
Spanakopita - Traditional Phyllo Pie of Spinach, Feta, Leeks, and Dill
Crisp Calamari and Lemon - Coated in Aborio Rice Flour with Spicy Yogurt and Garlic Yogurt
Wood-grilled Flank Steak - with fresh Herb Saltsa and Kouzzina Potatoes
Loukoumades - Freshly Made Greek Doughnuts drizzled with
Warm Honey

All the appetizers sounded so good, we were tempted just to order a bunch of them and skip the entree. But, we both got the flank steak... it was good, but when we go back I've got my eye on the "Pastitsio - Greek-style Lasagna with Bucatini Pasta, Cinnamon-stewed Meat Sauce, and Bechamel." Several people at tables near us ordered it, it looked really good.

Also, the chef stopped by a few times, she was great. She brought us a small piece of the baklava to try after we got the doughnuts. We wished we had gotten the baklava... it was the best either of us had ever tasted.

Dinner for 2, no alcohol, Tables in Wonderland, just over $80. Well worth it.

Wow. The only thing that sounded appealing was the doughnuts. Some very unique combination of ingredients in those dishes.

I'm guessing that it tastes a lot better than it sounds.

How was the spanikopita? I have a weakness for it...

It's the old Spoodle's location, next to Flying Fish on the Boardwalk.

Re: Kouzzina was yum!

I'm thrilled that Disney is getting some food choices outside the usual fare. Not to knock on Epcot, but the food you get is fairly typical and common things you can find in major cities (Morocco may be the only exception). Most people have a japanese, chinese, or mexican establishment near where they live. With the openings of the choices at the AK Lodge and now this Disney is thinking outside of the box now and willing to take a chance on something people don't see every day.

Kudos. I can't wait to try it.

Buttery, flaky, cheesy and fantastic. Definitely going to get it again when we go back.

Funny, because I can get Greek food here!! Rochester isn't really a major city, but we do have varied cuisine (love it!) But to me: good food is good food, some times it's better here, sometimes it's better there...

Re: Kouzzina was yum!

Oh that does sound good. I have a weakness for Greek Food. How oily was it? I find a few of the places I go here in Houston to overdo it on the olive oil.

Re: Kouzzina was yum!

The spanikopita sounds great. I really like it, but you very rarely see it on the menu anywhere. Maybe because it takes so much time to make it right?

Anyway, I'm glad to hear that this restaurant is a winner and has some interesting choices!

Not oily at all. Not even the calamari. We didn't really order anything that comes dressed with olive oil... but everything was so well prepared, I doubt that they would overdo it with the olive oil.

Re: Kouzzina was yum!

Thanks! I am excited to give it a try next year. I just saw the menu and saw they have Alfa beer which is awesome since it is so hard to find where I'm at.
