Is it possible to get Cheddar Cheese Soup outside of Le Cellier?

I'm sure this has been tried before, I was wondering if anyone has gotten the Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup outside of Le Cellier? Would they do a to-go order, or is it served somewhere else? We are going with our two year old, and only hitting buffets because of his attention span, we don't think a sit down at Le Cellier would be a good idea with him.

Supernova is correct. When we ate there last month, the waitress told us as we were leaving that you can order soup to take away. Just tell the people at the front desk that you want soup to go, and they will bring a waiter/waitress to the front to take your order.

Yea I agree with these guys. Unfortunately no where else in the world does the soup.

Although in the first "Cooking with Mickey" cook book you can find the recipe. There's also a video knocking about either on this site or youtube where on of the Disney chefs goes throug how to cook it. If you want either just message me and i can send them by email.

Had it for a starter at Xmas last year, was gorgeous

I actually made this soup last weekend from a recipe I found on allears.net, and it was AWESOME. I think I may have went a little heavy on the pepper, but it really tasted good, and I look forward to compairing it to Le Celliers version in about 40 days.

I know making it yourself is never as good, but here is the recipe that I found and have tried.


Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients:

1/4 lb. smoked bacon finely chopped
1 medium red onion cut into 1/4 in. pieces
1/2 cup finely sliced celery
1/2 cup finely chopped carrots
3 TB all-purpose flour
3 cups whole milk
2 cups chicken stock
12 oz. grated white cheddar, Canadian Black Diamond
3 dashes Tabasco
1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup Moosehead Canadian Ale, room temperature
salt and pepper to taste
1 TB thinly sliced chives
Method:
1. Cook the bacon in a large heavy-bottomed, non-reactive soup pot over medium heat until wilted but not browned.
2. Add onions, celery and carrots and cook until the onion is translucent and bacon has crisped.

3. Sprinkle in flour and stir constantly for 2 minutes. Stir in milk and stock, a little at a time, blending well to ensure there are no lumps. Bring to a boil, then cover and simmer for 15 minutes.

4. Remove from heat and whisk in cheese, Tabasco, Worcestershire and ale. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Serve with your favorite bread and top with chopped chives.

By the way, the Ceddar Cheese soup freezes nicely and makes a great quick lunch or dinner (since it's a bit time consuming to make last minute.) Don't forget the soft pretzels to make it as close to the real thing as possible.

Note: This is an updated version of the recipe, submitted 8/09.
Ingredients:
½ Pound applewood smoked Bacon (cut into ½” pieces)
4 Tablespoons butter
1 Diced red onion (about 1 cup)
3 Diced celery stalks (about 1 cup)
1 Cup all purpose flour
3 Cups chicken stock
4 Cups whole milk
1 Pound aged white Cheddar cheese (shaved or grated)
1 Tablespoon salt (to taste)
1 Tablespoon pepper
1 Tablespoon worchester sauce
1 Tablespoon tobasco sauce
1 cup warm beer

I use the old recipe above. Can anyone verify if the new is as good as the old?

I think when I made it I used the old recipe, I can't compare because I never made the new recipe but I can tell you (the obvious) that the type cheese you use makes all the difference

I was wondering too if you were able to get the soup to go if you were not dining at the resturant! I have heard so much about this soup and really want to try it on my upcoming trip, but didn't make any ADRs for here since we got into Cindy's instead!!


Has anyone got the soup that did not dine at the resturant to go?? I was thinking when we visit Epcot, before we leave I will get some to go back to the hotel room with!

Anyone know the last time the resturant will make an order?

The last I heard, yes. That was prior to the new chef and it becoming a signature restaurant.

The procedure was to go up to host and ask for the take out order.
Host would call a server. Server took order. Server a bit later brought out take out soup. Because you are now being waited on by the server a tip is expected. Tips are probably the reason servers were not bulking at the walk up/take out orders taking them away from their normal duties.
