Re: New Le Cellier Dinner Menu

Thanks! I was just looking for this I was debating booking for my upcoming trip in September...I always pay cash (with a TiW card) so the change to 2 credits isn't a huge deal.

...that being said, their price increases were huge. I pulled up the menu on All Ears and if you wanted the Salmon option (which was different...but still salmon) you were paying $24, on the new menu it's $44. FOR SALMON.

The Filet went up $5, but it's now in line with the other signatures, so I'm not surprised. The strip went up $7.

The Pork went from a chop at $24 to a Tenderloin at $37...so there's $13 there.

I don't know, huge price increase, not sure it's worth it... I'll have to see some reviews first. Personally I don't care about mashed potatoes not being on the menu, give me risotto over potatoes any day!

The prices seem awful high for what you order, but I guess if the restauarant still packs them in, then there is no reason not to charge this much. Everyone complains about the price of gas, but we still fill up. I suppose Disney can charge as much as they want for food, tickets, merchandise, etc... As long as people are still paying, it is not too much.

Ouch! They are fast approaching Ruth's Chris Steak House territory. Though from my infrequent visits to other upper end steakhouses the prices are not that much different from others. I will be interested to see what others experience with portions with the revised menus.

Wooba! Well I'd never give them two credits for LeCellier.
I enjoyed it, but in years past the service isn't what it was initially.

If you are going to pay cash, the service, ressie times and food best be the quality of a high end steak house.

And Agree NC Daddy, Disney hit my threshold on this one. I thought their prices were high enough already. With attendance down even with the special offers Disney is no longer packing them in despite their predictions.

Now going to compare prices as Kat started. At first blush it looks like a meal would cost more than my admission ticket.

I don't live near a big metropolis, so I'm not familiar with big city prices for restaurants, but I know I can buy a side of beef at the Piggly Wiggly for less than my family of five would spend on a meal here.

I guess I'm not shocked by the steak prices, but I'm floored by the salmon prices. I mean, salmon is good and maybe I'm out of the loop, but why on earth should salmon cost more than a filet mignon???

Edit: For comparison purposes, the strip steak at Flying Fish is $42, the salmon there is $36. So I don't think I'm totally off base... At Artist Point over at Wilderness Lodge (where the salmon is their signature dish...) it's $37... And at Yachtsman the filet is $40. So the steak prices are in line with the other signatures around property, so I can't take issue with them. The salmon though...my goodness. I'm shocked. ...here's another one, over at Artist's Point, the Pork Tenderloin is $30 and at Le Cellier they want $37 for the same dish.

I'm thinking they're probably charging higher at Le Cellier because of it's high demand in the past. After comparing menus...sorry. I'll skip. The pricing is out of line when you compare it to other restaurants on Disney property...

Re: New Le Cellier Dinner Menu

I did pull up All Ears Menu pages. I then pulled up some high end steak houses around Chicagoland as they have many real good ones. The steak prices were in the middle of the highs and lows.

As much as I like LeCellier, I did not find it close to the dining experience of fine dining. That's OK, but to me this is just a money grab because LeCellier was popular. Betting most dining plan guests are not going to surrender two dining credits, but I've been wrong before.

All I know, when I go to fine dining steak houses (not often any more) we are seated, we don't have to wait for the next available table and the courses are served in a lingering fashion. Never is the bill delivered prior to the meal being completed. Never does wait staff ask who has the strip steak. Waiting for reviews to hear not only how the food is but how the experience is.
