Hyperion Wharf left in limbo?? I know I took a break from my daily WDWradio.com check in's but when did that happen??
The construction walls are up around the DTD Rainforest Cafe. While the resturant will be open during construction extensive remodeling will be performed while operating. Construction is not anticipated to be completed until at least October.
The Exterior of the restaurant will be replaced, along with an upgrade to the volcano. There will also be a new lounge area.
At least the extensive construction walls around the Rainforest blend in well with the Hyperion Wharf that was left in limbo.

They aren't really good for anything,
but they still bring a smile to my face when I push them down a flight of stairs.

Well ya gotta stop doing that!
Briefly and succinctly after they demolished a few buildings in Pleasure Island everything came to a screeching halt not that it hadn't seen delays before.
This was about Mid-July. The only word that I've heard from Disney was it is delayed indefinitely while they re-evaluate. This was all around the time that it seemed weekly Disney was either firing or moving out their top officers. So now Rainforest just joins the other masses of construction walls in DTD.

Wow. I'm really not liking all the construction walls. It's kind of putting me in a down place for our trip in April.
Luckily the wife and I aren't planning on eating in DTD on our anniversary trip but we will be doing some shopping.
I saw these photo's last night and immediately thought of you. Can you say Holy Wall!

A new pretty exterior won't change the fact that Rainforest Cafe has some of the worst-tasting food of any sit-down fast food chains out there. It's all about the atmosphere, not about quality offerings. I don't eat at Rainforest and they have one across the bridge in NJ about 15 minutes away from me. I'm sure not going to waste time on vacation eating there.
Maybe I can ease my daughters' pain that they aren't going on our trip by showing them all the construction tarps and walls. Think I can convince them that there just isn't as much magic there at the moment?
I agree that Rainforest Cafe and T-Rex are both all about the atmosphere. I believe they could serve gas station roller dogs and still pack the place in as long as the animals/dinos are there. We've been to RC twice and I stick to the Pastalya and it's always been good. I've only bee to T-rex once and that was because of the kids.
Yeah nothing special about RC and TRex....I'd much rather have a sandwich at Earls!

Amen to all of the above. In fact, I got a hankerin' for an Original right now... :P

When Rainforest first opened they had some decent cold sandwiches on their menu. But that was a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. Since then they've been aggressively challenging Long John Silver's for the title of worst tasting food on the planet.
I don't think the food is bad per se. I just think it's predictable and overpriced. It's extremely obvious you are paying for the decor and not food quality. My one defense of Rainforest--they used to have some pretty tasty garlic smashed potatoes. Haven't had them recently. Wonder if they're still any good.

And when she starts beating you over the head with her broom for your insolence?
