Disney Princess Party Ideas?
Hi there, I am planning a Disney Princess themed 5th birthday party for my daughter, and was wondering if anyone has any game ideas along this line? The party will likely include some boys, too, but my little "princess" has requested A disney princess themes. She even would like a Princess cake, not sure how I can do that one (NOT A TALENTED BAKER/CAKE DECORATOR!) but any suggestions on this would be great!
I am in need of some Disney magic!!

Ooohh. Brave mommy! Little girl parties can be so much fun!
Including the boys makes it a little more challenging, but it can be done.
Invite the children to come in their 'royal finest' dress-up clothes - maybe reusing some halloween costumes. You can provide plastic jewelry, feather boas, gloves, or other royal accessories for them to dress up in and take home for favors.
Some ideas for games/activities:
- Make your own crowns: give the kids cardboard crowns that have been covered in foil to make them shiny. Let them decorate them by gluing on sequins, plastic jewels, and glitter. You can also make royal scepters (wands) in a similar fashion.
- Have a royal ball: (freeze dance with a different name) Everyone dances until the music stops, then they must 'freeze'. You can just play for fun - see who can freeze in the funniest pose, or if your kids are old enough, whoever moves is out until there is just one winner.(personally, I don't like games with 'winners' and 'losers' at a birthday party) Of course, use Disney Princess Collection CD's for the music!
- Have a slipper scramble: everyone puts their shoes in a pile and mixes them up. Secretly remove one shoe from the pile. Then everyone on the count of three runs to the pile and tries to find & put on their shoes. The first one to get their shoes on gets to reinact the Cinderella scene with the person who only has one shoe in the pile.
- Serve dainty 'tea' sandwiches (cut regular sandwiches with cookie cutters) and other 'fancy' finger foods. Encourage everyone to pretend to be royalty and use their best princess manners (they get really silly doing this).
There are more suggestions here:

There is also a cinderella themed party in this list of all kinds of parties: http://familyfun.go.com/parties/birt...typlanner_tlp/
There is a link in the first article about a cake - it looks like a castle! I was going to make it for my son's birthday, but it was a little too large for the few people I had coming. It doesn't take a lot of decorating skill, but it does take some time and a lot of cake mix!
If you search the Family Fun website, I'm sure you'll find even more ideas!
Hope this helps!

My daughter reminded me of another one: Jasmine's Carpet Ride. You play it like musical chairs, but use towels on the floor to make up a 'magic carpet'. Play music, when the music stops each child must sit on the carpet - one per towel. Take away a towel after each round. It's best to play this either on a carpeted surface or grass, so no one slips.
If you don't want winners & losers with this game, let them just have fun all trying to fit onto a smaller and smaller carpet.

Some ideas from our daughter's party.
We took a picture of our daughter in her princess costume and then printed it out as a poster (it comes out in about 20 different pages that you then need to tape together). We made several paper crowns and played pin the crown on the princess. Same concept as pin the tail on the donkey.
A great (and cheap) resource for cheap party invitations, decorations, and favors is eBay. We bought tons of really cheap things there that were meant for a Cinderella wedding.
Look at these invitations:

Look at this for a cheap cake topper:

This would be easy to turn any cake into a Princess Cake.

There are endless things that you can do for a princess party.
Have fun!!!
