I had a friend suggest to me that I could just take a taxi to Atlantis. Once there, grab a meal at the main restaurant and you get to see the aquarium free since it's part of the restaurant. Then walk around the shops and such.
Is anyone here thinking of doing one of the excursions to Atlantis? The waterpark and Dolphin stuff are too pricey for me (and I've swam with dolphins before), but I was thinking about the one where you get a tour and get to explore the aquariums. Has anyone ever been there before? I think I would regret it if I don't go...

Hmm. I was wondering about that, since really all I want to do is go see the aquarium. Do you know how far it is and how much a taxi would cost? I might just do the excursion cause I would like to see the tour... but $50 is a little pricey I guess. Especially since it doesn't come with lunch. I read somewhere that people order sandwiches to their room with room service and then pack them to bring on excursions haha... so maybe I'll do that :P
I'm sorry I sure don't. Ive never done it, but I can't imagine it costs much. I THINK taxi rates are regulated by the government in the Bahamas.
I did some googling and apparently it's $4 a person for a taxi. That for sure sounds like a much better deal! As long as you can for sure get into the aquariums I guess.
I've not been, just passing info I was given by a friend. 51 bucks to make sure you see it doesn't sound like a bad deal.
Ya I think I will. I found some info on a different forum from someone who has been a bunch of times and they say:
"The PUBLIC areas are:
- The Casino.
- Lobby's and High End Indoor Shopping. (Gucci, Versage etc)
- Small Aquarium viewing at the Great Hall of water Cafe (area near the cafe is floor to ceiling glass, just outside the aquarium entrance). This is open to the public if there is no event going on in the Cafe area.
- Marina Village
You are not allowed on the property beyond the lobby, so the casual beach bars and cafe's are not available to the public. You cannot walk around the pool areas or lagoons, or view the shark lagoon, turtles or stingrays. All the pictures of the rope bridges, waterfalls etc are all NOT accessible to those without a pass."
So... not a whole lot you can do for free without the tour!
I know exactly. I hear that all the time.
Bet you drove right through our area on the thruway!
Have been to all the places you mentioned over the years. All very nice destinations. Just did the Science Museum 2 years ago. We also stop at Kelsey's every now & then![]()
I know I'll be missing a cool aquarium but I am staying on the ship and exploring while docked in Nassau. Especially with it being our first full day onboard. Hopefully I can use that time to try the water coaster and play the picture frame game Tammy (VOA) had mentioned![]()

I have thought about just doing that as well. We'll see. We have decided that the day before we're going to take a town car in the morning so that we are there as SOON as the ship loads... and that way we can do as much exploring as possible that dayPlus our second last day is an entire day at sea. I think that I would just regret it a lot to NOT see Atlantis, especially since from what I can see of pictures its just so prominent on the skyline as the ship docks. However, if the ship is just waayyy too much fun then it might be nice to have a bit of a quiet day on the ship with less people around.
Me too. I want to spend as much time as I can enjoying the boat. I'm looking forward to it being a little quiet on the ship while everyone's in port so we could get some quiet pool time, etc. DH will want to do the Aqua Duck over and over again so this will be a good time for it.
I'm really looking forward to Castaway Cay...snorkling
Plus, we don't know what events Lou might have planned. There's going to be a whole lot of other cool things to look forward too.

I really really really enjoyed Castaway Cay,
my whole day there will be spent off the ship for sure...
snorkeling in the am, a walk or bike ride to the lookout, parasailing and floating serenity bay are my list of mist do's for that day. I am lucky to have seen many great aquariums, if I feel a pang of regret I guess I can book another trip down later. Jmho![]()
