I wonder what there is to do in Nassau just off the boat? Like... just to take a few hours off the ship to walk around and see the city. There is also a harbor cruise for $25 where they give you a tour of the city from the boat, and its a good way to get a picture of the ship from the ocean. Maybe I'll just spend a few hours when we stop walking around the straw market and touring by foot, and spend the rest of the day on the ship. I have a veranda and I plan on ordering tea and sandwiches and pastries and enjoying them on my veranda as much as I can heehee.
Twice we've taken the water taxi to Paradise Island ($6/pp roundtrip) and walked around Atlantis for free. We spent only a few hours doing so, and were back on the ship in time for lunch and the 1:00 movie. If you're interested in gambling, the casino at Atlantis is HUGE!
On my first visit to Nassau with DCL, I took the 2.5-hour historical city tour. The price was $24 in 2008.

DH mentioned getting off the boat in Nassau but I'm not that keen on it. I would rather explore the ship. Maybe do a Palo lunch that day!
I heard that they might have Toy Story 3 the Musical on stage for the cruise... anybody else hear anything?

No I was trying to figure out which movie will be playing when we are on board. Maybe Tron?
Most likely if it is that popular![]()

If you do not want to do an excursion in Nassau, you can walk around the Straw Market and there are some shops.
As for Atlantis, I know people have gotten days rooms there and at a nearby Comfort Suites for the day which then allowed them access to the resort. I have not done this and am not sure if it is still an option, but you may want to look into it, if you want to use the pools and things at Atlantis.
Some passengers on the Magic cruises this summer took advantage of a unique excursion to the Meyer Werft shipyard that is building the Disney Dream. Here is someone's report about their experience.
I hope you are all doing well.

I had heard about the comfort suites thing, but read that they had clued into all the cruise passengers doing this and raised their rates quite a bit. I just checked it out now and the cheapest room is $250... I don't have that kind of money for two of us to visit the water park. However, if someone was going to go to the water park anyways with their family it would for sure save you some money (especially if you have a family of 4 or 5 in one of those rooms).
I talked to my Aunt who stayed at Atlantis a few months ago (my uncle HAD to go there on a business trip... why can't my boyfriend get those kind of business trips!?) and she said that the $140 that theyre charging for the water park is outrageous (she did think it was really nice, just not $140 nice) and that she would not have paid $50 for the aquarium either. She said the best thing to do is the beach, but I know you have to pay for the Atlantis beach, and I'm not sure if there are public beaches elsewhere?
I really wish I could copy and post my passporter pages here but methinks that's a big no-no in the publishing world...I got mine for a rediculously low price cause I bought the 2009 guide. The main thing it says is to use the taxi stand just off the wharf to get directly to where you want to wander. It suggests you not walk alone, look self-assured and keep your valuables out of site. Panhandlers WILL offer to be a tour guide, don't get fall for it! The ship historically leaves at 7, you should finish up your touring by 5 if you want to be sure to make it back to the ship.
Bay Street is lined with shops.
The nearest beach is the Western Esplanade along West Bay
Remote South Beach will cost you $33 in cab fare, "its quiet beauty may be worth the journey."
Paradise Islands first class beaches are "best visited as part of a shore excursion."
Paradise Island offers the Atlantis Casino
Cable Beach has the older Crystal Palace Casino
Atlantis has the Aquarium; $25 adults, $19 kids (3-12)

Same problem here in Alabama. 5 years ago when I started teaching, there were openings having to be filled the week before school started. We also got nice (for Alabama) pay raises 2 years in a row. Then 2 years ago the economy tanked, and all non-tenured teachers were layed off. Most were hired back, and then we went thru the same thing again this spring. We have lost about 20% of our teaching positions - mostly in the secondary schools. More teachers have decided to not retire yet, and all those students that started teaching degrees 4 and 5 years ago (when there was a shortage) are graduating to fewer openings. Think the same thing is happening with RNs now, also.
