Getting to Hotel, Port and Back
Here is my quandary, I'm flying into Sanford airport pre cruise in June. We arrive on a Monday and our cruise sails on Tuesday. So we need to get from the airport to our hotel (most likely on-site), then get to port the next morning. There are 5 of us, so disney transfers to port are approx 350 bucks and we still need to find a way to the resort and back to the airport after our stay. Car rental for our entire trip works out to about 46 bucks per day including all taxes. So if we rent and park the car while on the 5 night cruise it is the same price and paying disney port transfers and we can get to port early (I included parking at the port costs). Another option is getting (sharing) a limo with others for approx 35 per person round trip, but we still have to get to the resorts and will rent a car post cruise for our 5 night stay at BCV. I'm sure there are other options I'm not thinking about right now. Still trying to figure the best option. Leaning toward the rental car so I'm at my own pace and come and go as I please. Just seems like such a waste to have a rental sitting in the lot while on the cruise.

We are in the same situation as you are. We will get to our hotel on a Friday (my husband and I will probably stay on property while my inlaws stay at their condo off site). Our cruise leaves on Tuesday and we are not sure about how we are getting to and from port. I think there will be 5-6 of us and I just don't think that the disney transportation is the way for us to go. Keep us all posted about what you find and if I do research I will post on here.
Re: Getting to Hotel, Port and Back
if you are staying onsite you can take Magical express from the airport to the resort....and back to the airport after you post cruise stay if you don't want to rent a car for your post cruise stay. so that would leave to and from the port....I would think 2 one day one way rentals would be cheaper than paying for a car to sit in the lot and paying for parking. Just my thought I have not done this I used a shuttle service to and from the port my last cruise in 2003.

Magical Express will not pick me up at the Sanford Airport.

np, its nice to be able to go direct from our local airport, but its one of the issues with doing so.
Re: Getting to Hotel, Port and Back
you could rent at sanford, turn it in someplace at port. then rent another car at port to take back to disney/airport after. and not let it sit in parking for the 5 days you are on board.

That seems like the most fiscally responsible thing to do, but actually I ran all those numbers and I'm not sure the cost savings is worth the hassle. I'm leaning towards just renting and parking. Just have to decide if the extra approx 100 bucks (cost of renting and parking vs renting twice and dropping off) is worth it. grrrr
