I think my ticker should give this away!!!
I start planning on the plane ride back
Right now I'm already scheming for my trip in '10....I won't bring myself to make a ticker yet...it'll just depress me
from i make the plan that we are going and till i get off the plan love ittttt
I am going to have to say about one year in advance. This is especially true in terms of planning how to save the money needed to really enjoy the vacation.
I may take about a year to plan but I dream everyday!!!
I said 18 months because we usually go every other year. But in 05 we decided that we wanted to go back in 06 for Christmas so we did!!! So we went two years in a row but I don't mind!!! lol
First trip was 3 months and now this trip was about 3 1/2 months...
I usually "plan" what hotel I'm staying at, how long I want to stay, and little details like that about six months before the trip, but I don't make reservations until just a few months before, just in case things don't work out. I'm very organized so the family trip planning is always my responsibility. Dad gives me the credit card and a price range, and I'm good to go!
I live in SW Ontario, Canada -- unfortunately spontaneous road trips aren't really possible (BUMMER !!!) but if I am ALWAYS planning another trip !!
As a friend of mine once said "The thing I love about you is you always have another Disney dream trip in your back pocket, and if that one doesn't happen, there is always another one right behind it !!" I guess my friends really know me well !!
As we were walking out of the Magic Kingdom after Halloween 2006, my mom, kids and I started planning the next trip which turned out to be Nov/Dec 2007. As soon as we got home from that trip, I booked this year's trip. I decided that I needed a little "Mom" time last year and turned up at the Pirates 3 premier in Disneyland with 2 months notice and this year I am going to WDW alone in June !!!!
GOTTA LOVE DISNEY !!!!!
I start thinking about going a year in advance but I don't do active planning until right before my 180 day mark hits!
because I could never handle going to WDW without some good planning, it would have to be a year.
Due to what I do for a living, long term planning is impossible. The good thing is that due to my 80% travel job, I never have to pay out of pocket for my flights.
Have a friend who went to WDW last year for the first time, after hearing me go on and on about the World. She Didn't want to plan or get advanced reservations. She's now hooked. She's going back this year and realized she has to plan months in advance. But that just adds to the fun of going.
I had to mark 2 years, but it really was almost 3 years of saving, choosing the right dates, looking at the right places to stay, reading Disney books, saving more money, day dreaming about it, etc.
