I love WDW in October - cool but not cold, and seldom crowded - all the fall/halloween decor is a big bonus

October 16--MNSSHP @ Magic Kingdom
October 17--Disney's Hollywood Studios
October 18--Relaxing by resort pool/Downtown Disney
October 19--Either Animal Kingdom or Epcot?

A friend will help you mend a broken heart; a best friend will get a shovel and help you dig the hole.
My last few trips in the month of October, I thought it was warm and sometimes hot. I also thought while not as crowded as the Summer, it still had some crowds...but nothing that wasn't manageable.
Also in October, Epcot holds its Food and Wine Festival. It's one of the reasons we like to do October trips. yes: So if you are trying to decide between AK or Epcot, keep that in mind. Also if you do visit the Food and Wine Festival, do it during the week as the locals make it crowded on the weekend during the festival.
Also with your MNSSHP ticket, you can enter the MK at as early as 4PM. When you buy your ticket, I'd make your dinner reservation then...especially if you want to dine at the Liberty Treey Tavern. The characters seem to get more into the Halloween spirit there with masks.
Have a great trip, late October is one of my favorite times of year!

Hopefully I will be making a trip down in September, but my wife and I were at the World last October and had a great time. It was my first time there during that time of year and it was a little hotter than I thought it would be but nothing unbearable. The crowds were medium sized but nothing you can't manage.
MNSSHP and the Food and Wine Festival were great!!
Enjoy your trip.
I'll be there October 25-30 with a few dozen other Disney fanatics, as well as some special guests (Matt Hochberg, Nathan Rose, Ricky Brigante, Steve Swanson, Bryan Ripper. C'mon, Lou, you know you want to come!). Check out the link in my signature for more info!
Here's a suggestion for you: since you are staying at POR, head over to the bar area at night and check out Yehaa Bob. Bob is more entertaining than the Comedy Warehouse, guaranteed (and that's not a slam on the CW).
My son and I went for 2 days right before Halloween last year and was really pleasant. Not sticky hot and not to cool at night.
I go to WDW every year around Halloween for MNSSHP.
when we find out the days I'll post them.

Since Pluto is no longer a planet. I think Mickey should be the new one.
TRICIA JONES: I heard that you were going to propose to Brandi Svenning at some theme park. When are men going to learn that women want ROMANCE, not Mr. Toad's Wild Ride...
BRODIE: Hey, now, be fair. EVERYONE wants Mr. Toad's Wild Ride.
More and more school systems in Tennessee are getting fall breaks and I think this may be the case in other states as well. As a result crowds are beginning to be a bit larger in October because of this and the F&W festival. I haven't been in October since 2005 and the crowds were very managible then. I would assume this is still the case but I wouldn't be surprised to see that change in the very near future.
