Southern New England Disney Fan Meet Jan 2010

Hi all!

Welcome to the SNEDFM thread! (could I have chosen a longer title?)

We are looking to gather Disney fans from all over the Northeast -- NYC, CT, RI, MA, upstate NY -- for a grand meet somewhere in CT. This includes any and all Disney fans, from all walks of life and any discussion boards.

Depending on interest, the meet will most likely happen in the greater Hartford area sometime in January 2010.

Possible activities: Disney trivia contest, Yankee swap, dinner, and lots of chat about our favorite topic.

I'm from Western NY, but looking to move to CT. Let me know if this takes place, if I'm around at that time, I would love to come. I have never gone to any meets and am not a regular poster, but I love Disney, and would love to meet more people to don't think I'm crazy everytime I say "on this disney podcast I listen to..."

I'd be game for this, but I'm only going to be home (in CT) for the first week and change of January before I head back down to FL. I would be interested to hear an approximate date that you think you might be looking at to do this.

Who: all Mouse-crazy people
What: lunch/dinner and a visit to the Disney Store
When: weekend in January
Where: Westfarms Mall in CT, California Pizza Kitchen (and Disney Store, of course!)
Why? Because Disney people are the best people to talk to! Yankee swaps, trivia, maybe some new contests....

Westfarms is perfect for me! I'll probably be going there a few times in the next couple of weeks anyway! And I was going to say that the Rainforest Cafe there would be a bit more reminiscent of Disney, or at least it seems that way to me anyway, (seeing as there are TWO of them on WDW property), but CPK is just dandy too.

I am going to be headed back home to good ole' CT on Monday of this week, and I'll be up there until Jan 9th before I have to come back South. I know I do have plans with family on a few of those days, but I also have plenty of days that are totally wide open too. So naturally I'll have to double check dates before I commit to anything, but I would LOVE to do this. I'll give an update back here as soon as I get my "schedule" mapped out. Hopefully by Monday evening (but don't quote me on that) I'll let you know?

UPDATE!

Seeing as you specified this would take place on a weekend in January, and the 9th (my return trip to FL) is on the second Saturday of the month, that would mean the first weekend of the year would be my only real possibility. My mom and I have plans to go see 'Hairspray' at Foxwoods on Sunday the 3rd, but Saturday the 2nd is still free as far as I can tell. Maybe that would be a good day for this meet?

Anyone else with any thoughts?

After looking at all the possibilities, it looks like I can do the meet either Saturday, January 16th or Saturday, January 23rd. If anyone is interested in more information, PM me or post on this thread.

Bummer for me too... I work Saturdays

The meet has officially been set for Saturday, January 23rd at 1pm for a late lunch. We're going to meet at Westfarms Mall in West Hartford, CT.

If you're interested in joining us, please send me a PM. We'd love to have lots of people there and start an annual tradition.

We’ve had an amazing response to the meet – almost 30 people are planning to attend! After looking at our dining options at Westfarms, it was decided that we needed to find a decent space to accommodate our large group.<o:p></o:p>

The meet has been moved to the Adams Mill Restaurant in <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Manchester</st1:City>, <st1:State w:st="on">CT.</st1:State></st1:place> They will provide a banquet menu of six different entrees, plus salad and dessert. The price for the entrees will be $16-18 plus tax and tip. We will have a cash bar available. A children’s menu is available. More information on final prices coming.

Yes, we did have a meet! It was great -- about 30 people overall. Sorry that you couldn't make it -- perhaps next time!
