I just bought the little mermaid vhs original cover (you know the one i'm talking about) for $20. I was too young to understand why they replaced it, but now that i've seen it, WOW, intentional or not, what a resemblance.

Good find Mickey's Girl. I haven't seen one of those in ages. My parents still have their original copy and you are right. The resemblance is striking!

It was already released on DVD, but with no bells and whistles. I have it in my DVD collection. Look for the platinum edition of The Little Mermaid in October 2006.Originally Posted by ToddBreakey

I was too cheap to go buy it on DVD at the times. I told the kids we already have the oringianl 1st copy of it on VHS (with the questionable artwork) Needless to say kids weren't trying to hear that. So I as of now every time something been re-released to dvd we have both the oringial release on vhs and the dvd version or as my oldest puts it we have a collection to matain (go figure)

My parents have the original clamshell cover with the nice "tower" on it. Unfortunately, I used to have the original movie poster with it, but I threw it away after a few years.

this guy selling two copies on eBay was kind enough to highlight the 'objectionable' material. it is pretty graphic though. it's the last photo displayed at the bottom.

Isn't it sad when something is a collectible because something is offensive in it? Anyone remember that baseball player with the foul phrase on the bat bottom? That player wasn't very good, but his card was worth a LOT because of the bat.
