Recently, I've been wondering what time periods (and for some, what country) some of the Disney movies are set in. Anyone got any ideas?
Cinderella- It's got colonial, medieval, and victorian influences. It's like the movie can't decide what era it's set in XD And I'm torn between it being set in England or Germany.
Beauty and the Beast- Again, with the multi-era-spanning objects/clothing in it. Obviously set in France, though.
-The Little Mermaid- Denmark maybe? England?
Alice in Wonderland- I want to say early 1800's...
"To all that come to this happy place: Welcome. Disneyland is your land. Here age relives fond memories of the past, and here youth may savor the challenge and promise of the future. Disneyland is dedicated to the ideals, the dreams, and the hard facts that have created America... with hope that it will be a source of joy and inspiration to all the world."
Very good question. Wondered myself occasionally.
BF and I talking about it....here is what we deduced
Alice---late 1800's/ early 1900's judging by the outfits Alice and the sister are wearing and that one is easy for place setting---England (accent and all)
Cinderella-- late 1700's/early 1800's and he says Germany or Austria
BatB ---France ---time era..ummmm???? 1700's????
Little Mermaid--?????country?????---18/19th century????
I have a few more to add/guess at.....
Hunchback--should be easy time wise if we look up when Notre Dame was built and Obviously France too.
Lady and the Tramp---early 1900's---WHERE????NYC perhaps??
Aristocats---France---year..who knows...they dance like the 1960's and dress like 1910
HMMMM...must think of more..this is going to bug me now. LOL
Peter Pan is London, circa 1904.
Oliver & Company is NYC and was present day, so late 80's (1988 most likely)
Good question! It'll be nice to see a list made.

I think you are over thinking these movies.....their fairy tales.....the only time period and location you should know is Once Upon A Time in A Far Off Land
Anyway back to the trivia
TaleSpin--- circa 1940's somewhere in the Florida Keys or Carribean.
Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers---1980's along the eastern coast of USA???
LOL....ToonDisney is showing a lot of old Disney Afternoon shows today
