    Wall-E Oscar Nominations

So Wall-E is nominated in 6 different categories, but unfortunately not for best picture. I'm not sure if a film is able to be nominated for best animated feature and best picture. I know Beauty and the Beast was nominated for best picture, but the best animated feature award didn't exist then. Anyway, the categories are:

    Original Screenplay
    Frozen River
    Happy-Go-Lucky
    In Bruges
    Milk
    WALL-E

    Animated Feature Film
    Bolt
    Kung Fu Panda
    WALL-E

    Sound
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
    The Dark Knight
    Slumdog Millionaire
    WALL-E
    Wanted

    Sound Editing
    The Dark Knight
    Iron Man
    Slumdog Millionaire
    WALL-E
    Wanted

    Original Song
    "Jai Ho": Slumdog Millionaire
    "O Saya": Slumdog Millionaire
    "Down to Earth": WALL-E

    Original Score
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
    Defiance
    Milk
    Slumdog Millionaire
    WALL-E

Also, Presto is up for best animated short film.

I'm thinking WALL-E pretty much has the best animated feature award wrapped up, it would be great if it won best original screenplay and original score as well, heck, it would be great if it won all 6.

How do you think WALL-E will do?

I absolutely love the score of Wall-E and the Peter Gabriel song on the Soundtrack so I'm really pulling for that one. I think it deserves the animated feature trophy over Kung Fu Panda at least... I still haven't caught Bolt.

Thanks for posting this info! I hope Wall-E wins in every category it was nominated in! I was really disappointed it wasn't nominated for Best Picture - I think that would have been amazing if it had won that category!

Ah I was wondering if they got it! That's awesome.

I guess the Hollywood powers that be are too sophisticated to have nominated an animated film like WALL-E for Best Picture. WALL-E is one of the most wonderful movies I have seen in a while; it crossed generations and had multiple storylines (love, greed, environment, etc.). Of course, there was no violence, ***, or foul language; I guess that's what ruled it out!
Besides....watching it made you feel good!

I agree, M5! I think it should have been nominated and WON best picture!! It was outstanding - so powerful and complex - much more than the usual animated film. When the nominations came out, I was really pulling for it to be in the overall Best Picture category. I also thought that Beauty and the Beast should have won when it was nominated back in the 90's....have a bone to pick with the academy....

I cheered as well! I have it saved on netflix so I can finally see it. Actually, I may check our area and see if it's still showing nearby.
