RIP Fess Parker, aka Davy Crockett

I don't know if anyone here was ever a big Davy Crockett fan, but I have always considered Davy Crockett to be one of my heroes, and no one, in my opinion, has ever played the part with such dignity as Fess Parker did for Disney in the 60s.

We're losing so many Legends this year. It's very sad...

Chalk up a second Legend I'll miss out on hearing back from. I sent a request to him about a month and a half ago, even though other people were receiving notes that Mr. Parker was no longer signing autographs. After missing Roy Disney by literally two weeks, here's #2 that'll wind up forever gone.

    RIP, sir.
Really, Walt? Disneyland is MY land? Why would I want a silly little land when I can have the WORLD.

I remember how upset I was as a little guy, finding out Davy Crockett died at the Alamo. This movie left an indelible impression on me.

    Rest in peace, Mr. Parker.

Re: RIP Fess Parker, aka Davy Crockett

Just watched the movie "Them" on TV the other day. It had been suggested to Walt that he see the movie with James Arness in a larger role as a possible choice for Davy Crockett. When walt saw Fess Parker in a smaller role as a Texas pilot in an asylum who claimed his plane was downed by huge flying insects, he immediately chose him for the role.
Just a little bit o' trivia some here may not have known.

    Rest in peace, Mr. Parker.
