With Del Torro, we should get a scarier, edgier telling of the story. His unique visuals should set it above any version we could have hoped for
. Eddie Murphy was ok.
I was disappointed in that one. Probably had my hopes up too much
. I still watch it every time its on. Looking forward to all the Del Torro Disney projects.
apparently he announced it at comic-con recently. im actually really looking forward to it

I seriously cannot wait for this. I can't express how disappointed I was in the Eddie Murphy version. In fact, as soon as I heard this, I came over here to start a thread expressing how excited I was, but then saw that there already was one! So I'm glad that there are others here that are as excited as I am.![]()
If we can dream it, we can do it
btw, i misread. Its gonna be GUILLERMO del toro, not benicio
when people say Del Toro, they should really specify

What is the hat box ghost?
June 7, 2011
Alexis Thompson, 6lbs, 3ozs of pure joy!
The infamous hatbox ghost was an illusion that was created to appear in the attic scene of the Haunted Mansion. It was a ghost, holding a hatbox, whose head would disappear and then reappear in the box. The illusion never worked quite right and he was taken out of the scene, not long after the HM opened. Since then he has become kind of a cult favorite amongst Haunted Mansion enthusiasts.
He also appeared in a good bit of the early concept art for the Haunted Mansion, including some of the record-and-book sets. As seen here:
Here's a great article about him, from the legendary fan-favorite Haunted Mansion website, doombuggies.com.

Del Toro has been a huge fan of the ride since he was a kid. The fact he even knows who the Hatbox Ghost is says a lot.
As a kid I used to have that record/book w/ the picture of the Hatbox Ghost. That was one of my favorites, and I hear it's recently come out on CD.
Here you leave today and enter the world of yesterday, tomorrow, and fantasy.
Guillermo Del Toro is an awesome filmmaker, this excites me.
