Did anyone see John Carter?
Judging by the box office my guess is no, but I saw it a few weeks ago and really liked it. It was a fun movie and deserved to be a hit.

Re: Did anyone see John Carter?
Cinematically this movie is getting no respect. I thought Andrew Stanton did a fanTASTIC job in the making of it. This is my first experience seeing Taylor Kitsch in any gig. I thought he did a great job with the physical acting aspect of it. He really got a lot across just through his facial expressions and body language. The only part that I didn't like from him was when he was addressing all of the Tharks in the arena. He WAY overacted that scene.

Re: Did anyone see John Carter?
If the movie is twice as inspiring as the trailers, it still wouldn't be very inspiring.
I certainly hope it is FAR better than the trailers make it look.

I saw it Saturday at the early bird showing. I really liked it, but I was the only one in the theater.

Re: Did anyone see John Carter?
I have no desire to see either, but would have to choose Carter over Hunger Games if I had too. I kinda dig near-future/dystopian stories and movies, but nothing about the Hunger Games looks appealing at all. Would much rather go the fantasy route.
Carter just looks like a poor man's blend of Star Wars and Lord Of The Rings, though...

Re: Did anyone see John Carter?
As soon as I heard that Disney was offering free screenings, I knew it was going to be a stinker.
And the reason that Hunger Games doesn't look appealing is because you're a male. It's not SUPPOSED to look good. From what I hear, it's basically Twilight and a total chick flick. I won't be seeing that one or reading the book, for that matter. Stupid nonsense.
Really, Walt? Disneyland is MY land? Why would I want a silly little land when I can have the WORLD.

Re: Did anyone see John Carter?
Stupid nonsense is a bit harsh. I'm sure it appeals to a large audience, I just don't happen to be part of it.

How about silly nonsense, then?

I couldn't be bother to see John Carter. It looks terrible, and now Disney just lost $200 million

I've not yet seen the Hunger Games, but have read the books, trust me they are nothing like Twilight. There is a romance subplot but that's a minor part of the story. The books have quite a bit of action, in fact they are quite violent.

Saw the movie and read the books. You're dead on, the romance isn't what drives the story, the revolution sparked by the main character is.
And even though the main character is a girl I wouldn't say it's "for girls", in fact I know more guys who have read the books and are fans than girls.

No, But John Carter entertain very well.

Re: Did anyone see John Carter?
I haven't had a chance to see the movie myself, yet, but I'm still intrigued despite all the negative press it's received. The previews we saw at last year's Expo looked really good, so I'm definitely holding off judging this one until I've had a chance to see the whole thing personally.
