My daughters and wife want to see it. We may go in a couple of weeks. I'm still reeling financially over taking the brood out to see Thor 2 and it was on bargain night!

Yep, when we took our family of 4 out to first run movies it pinched and the student rates are not that grand.

My DD went out to see Elf in a theater last night with a college friend out in the middle of nowhere, it took her an hour and a half to get there and is very rural. As old as Elf is, it was $8.50, cheaper than first runs but still $8.50 for an old movie, but one of her all time favorites.

The critics here are saying it is the best Disney has turned out since Lion King. Do you rank it high too. I'm going to have to see this one.

Pretty close! I really enjoyed it (and I don't know anyone who hasn't liked it yet). I really liked the soundtrack as well

And I'm hearing the opposite... that the songs were pretty much forgettable. My friend took her two kids and she said that there wasn't a single song that was stuck in her head on the way out. Maybe Disney needs to pick and choose their musicals. Wonder if this movie would have done just as well without the songs? Did they even release a Frozen soundtrack?

Yeah they did, I heard a good chunk of it on Thanksgiving. It doesn't have the power of the songs of Lion King but the best I can peg them are fun and upbeat. Im sure "Let it Go" will become very popular, not my kind of song but it is going to pull at a chunk of Disney fans likely. Thinking "Let it Go" will be the most memorable."Forever" was done well. "Snowman" was pretty good also though it was a little Beauty and The Beast-y/Mermaid-y, it reminded me of parade/stage show songs at WDW where they all kinda sound the same.

I waiting to see how the songs enhance the movie. So far it is so much better than Tangled, that music made me want to implode.

    Yup!

Part of the problem may be that Disney seems to be pushing soundtracks performed by the stars of the movie(s). I'm not sure how well Kristen Bell or Idina Menzel can sing. I know that stars have sung on very iconic Disney tracks before but it's not always a forgone conclusion that every actor can also carry a tune.

I'll reserve judgement after seeing the film.

I haven't still seen it but the sound track was being played on Thanksgiving and I liked what I was paying attention too. Need to hear it in context with Movie to relate though. Everyone that I know that has seen it liked it and the critics are still being very kind to it too. Glad you liked it.

Menzel comes from Broadway musicals, so I'd be fine with he. Not sure about Bell, though. I would say I guess Disney wouldn't cast someone who couldn't sing along with act, though a few films from the past two decades have had singing voices (Jasmine and Pocahontas being two notable ones) have cast along side the voice actors, so...

Well, it was AMAZING! took my two 13yo twin girls, their friend, my hubbie and me..... It was completely opposite of what we thought it would be. the trailer has nothing to do with the movie.... But we thought Olaf was cute in the trailer. My 43yo DH said it made him teary..... nothing makes him teary. Music was more reminiscent of Beauty and the Beast.... more orchestral in nature.... my girls thought the music was ok overrall but there are several songs they have already downloaded and are watching Demi Lovato youtube videos daily. I loved the music and will buy the CD.

We left the theater and the first thing the girls said was, " WE HAVE TO BUY THIS WHEN IT COMES OUT!" After watching the movie, the music is so much more endearing and I will rewatch Lou's World of Color video again now I know the storyline. It is a beautiful story and Kristen Bell did an amazing job singing. I couldn't believe it was her when I googled voice of Anna.....

    18 thumbs up!!!!

One of my bosses saw Frozen with his kids and he said they really liked it. He even said the soundtrack was pretty good, with no prompting from me. He's not a big Disney fan so there's a vote from the outside
