Yellow Wiggle Decides to Stop Performing

    From the AP:
    Wed Nov 29, 8:23 PM

SYDNEY, Australia - The lead singer of the hugely popular children's group The Wiggles announced Thursday he would stop performing because of illness.

In a video-recorded statement, Greg Page said he had been suffering a condition called orthostatic intolerance that had left him debilitated.

"It means that I'll no longer be able to sing and dance as I want to and as a result I've decided to stop performing with The Wiggles," said Page, 34, who is known for his bright yellow T-shirt.

Orthostatic intolerance is a little-understood disorder that causes dizziness, fatigue and nausea.

Page, who helped found The Wiggles in 1991 after he and two other members met while studying early childhood education in Sydney, said the condition was "not life threatening by any means," but would be with him for the rest of his life.

"I'll miss being a part of The Wiggles very much but this is the right decision because it will allow me to focus on managing my health," said Page, who handed his yellow T-shirt over to his understudy, Sam Moran.

The Wiggles were Australia's top-earning entertainers last year, ahead of No. 2 AC/DC and No. 3 Nicole Kidman. The four men in brightly colored T-shirts, accompanied by a cast of characters including Dorothy the Dinosaur and Wags the Dog, grossed $39 million last year.

Page helped found The Wiggles in 1991 after he and two other members met while studying early childhood education at Sydney's Macquarie University.

The group has franchised its enormously popular recipe to several non-English speaking countries, including Taiwan.

OK, is there something wrong with me in that I am actually sad about this?

Thank you, Greg Wiggle, for bringing so much joy, happiness and laughter to my children (OK, and me too!)

Keep on "Toot Toot Chugga Chugga-ing"!

I guess I know what songs I'll be singing all day!

Will the Wiggles ever be the same? Can they recover?

I am so sad about this, and I don't know if the Wiggles will ever be "the same". This is so upsetting.

The Wiggles will not be the same
    without Greg.

I mean they just can't go on with
their fruit salad and hot potato lives
    without him

Many of them, Nick. They were up here just a few weeks ago, and they were at Disney World last August/September.

Its very upsetting. My little cousin Owen loved the Wiggles.Every time I went for a visit he would be dancing to the Wiggles tapes with his Wiggle guitar and Big Red Car slippers!
