    I'm going!!

I will be there on August 4th. I want to get some more info on DVC and see the mock up rooms they have. I will probably be there when the mall opens. Should be fun. I heard Mickey will be there too!

Hey, I just thought of something. I am going to wear my Dream Team T-Shirt that day! My DD will wear hers also!! So, if you see me, please stop me and say HI!!

Should we go…..should we stay home…that was the question my husband and I pondered for over week and the last I knew before falling asleep on Thursday night was that we were not going to make the long trek to a DVC sales pitch. Then Friday morning we both woke up, looked at each other and the next thing I knew is we were on our way to Schaumburg, Illinois! Two and a half hours later we were there - Disney’s Doorway To Dreams at Woodfield Mall. When we first arrived we were asked to follow the Disney Magic through the mall to the Improv Theater where we were greeted with other DVC members and their families. My husband added his humor of the line and asked if there were fast passes available. While waiting were given really neat pins that light up with little blue lights. Then we were escorted downstairs where we checked in, were given a number, and sweepstakes forms for a trip to WDW with one nights stay in the castle. (I hope to win this one as I should have won June’s trip since it was so close to my birthday! J J J ). After enjoying a beverage if you wanted one, we were taken into the improv theater where they had a nice buffet set up and a large screen with DVC Trivia and facts. After everyone was seated the MC and Self Imposed DVC Queen kicked off the presentation. Then 3 DVC CM’s talked about the deals they were giving if you attended one of these special Disney’s Doorway To Dreams kick off. After that Goofy, Donald, Pluto, Chip & Dale showed up to join in the fun! (Of course I had to wipe the tears of happiness from my face again! Those darn emotions can just creep up on you at anytime when Disney is involved!) Then we were taken to the new store for a preview. The store front has some flat screen monitors in the windows and a Goofy statue greeting everyone in the middle of the store. On the left side is this really cool map of the world which contains Disney characters and a light wherever you can stay with DVC points. Then we took a walk through a mock up of the new Animal Kingdom DVC rooms. THEY ARE SO COOL! The new studios sleep 5 instead of 4. In the 1 bedroom or 2 bedroom master the floor an animal print with hidden Mickey’s and bath has a glass walk in shower. The colors are very earthy and calming. Every 2 bedroom will have a full connecting walk out balcony (great for viewing the savannah)! The other hidden Mickey’s are in the bedspreads. After this we were taken back to the improv where we got our picture taken with all 5 characters at the same time. Once again, tears welled up in my eyes and I got kisses and hugs from each one! One of the CM’s smiled and just said it was that Disney Magic that does that! One of the CM’s gave my husband an autographed photo of all of a bunch of Disney characters in front of the castle, which he surprised me with later. The DVC Queen was still keeping a few people entertained and I kept raising my hand as I knew ALL of the answers to her trivia questions but nooooooo - I never got called on! I wanted one of those cool luggage tags she was handing out or one of the other gifts. She kept going to people who didn’t want to participate. After that we worked our way out of the building. We were given the opportunity to talk to a DVC CM in case we wanted to sign up for more points, but we only want more BCV points so we didn’t hang around. As we were leaving we each received a goodie bag. It had a Mickey and Minnie Doorway to Dreams pin, another Doorway to Dreams pin that didn’t light up, a hanging door knob holder, and Mickey Ears with the Doorway to Dreams logo. We had a GREAT time and it was well worth the 6 hour round trip just for a Disney fix. My husband keeps joking that he is going to take me there instead of WDW since it is closer when I am going through Disney withdraw. Hahahaha - so he Thinks! J J J
If you are driving through Illinois and have time to spare, stopping by Disney’s Doorway to Dreams is a different Disney experience. Maybe one will be coming to a city near you. If you get an invite - take them up on it for a little magic from Disney. It’s a great deal to add on points if you have the finances to do so!

We attended the even on 8/3, and had a blast. the was a slight sales pitch, but not too bad. We actually were very entertained, and left w/ some nice gifts. The kids got a special DVC DAK pin, given to them by DVC herself (she is the actress that told jokes during MGM's Star Wars weekends).

I attended the Grand Opening of Doorway to Dreams on August 4th as I'm not presently a DVC member. We were able to tour the rooms, which I agree, are gorgeous. We attended the seminar/sales pitch at the Improv theater and I actually was very impressed by how well run it was and how informative. We received the pins and ears, and a goodie bag before we left with the previously mentioned doorhanger, a duffel bag, a clip magnet and a gorgeous book with all the DVC locations and points. I am very interested in DVC, but I can't pull the trigger just yet because we are in the middle of several home improvement projects which really need to be completed before investing in DVC. I was very torn though and my mind was working every angle, but it really all came back to making our home a first priority and then looking into something like this.

We were not able to see the characters because by the time we got there, about an hour after the mall opened, the line to see the characters was already three hours long. Thankfully, we have the cruise coming up and my daughter knows she can see them there! Otherwise, those big sad eyes of hers may have convinced me to make the three hour wait. It really wasn't run that well. I just knew that if we waited three hours, it wouldn't be a pretty picture by the end anyway. She would have been exhausted, hungry and cranky.

After the presentation, I actually tried to get one castmember to give up the goods on what exactly was the Contemporary Tower going to be. He wouldn't quite bite though, but he totally didn't deny that it would be a DVC location.

Another Gathering at DVC's Doorway to Dreams

I attended another preview at the Doorway to Dreams today with my nieces. The mailers went out late so we couldn't sit in with other DVC members, so we sat with the general public show. We had a lot of fun and it was really nice to get a piece of the magic in the cold winter weather. There was a dance party after the presentation for the kids with Mickey & Minnie. Also available for pictures were Aladdin and the Genie in the kids area, and TINK!!!!! She was the BEST and my youngest niece was in seventh heaven. She spent so much time with my niece that is all we heard the whole way home. Then my niece lost her first tooth on the way home and told me that the Tooth Fairy must know Tink because they are both fairies and that Tink must have helped her with losing her tooth because she has been scared to lose it. My only disappointment was I forgot my camera to take pictures - I am so sad about that.
They did a really nice job of tailoring the show for everyone!!! If you get a chance to attend the new opening of Doorway to Dreams in New York - DO IT!!!! It is SO WORTH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!
