That can answer a lot of your questions.
In terms of ''worth''....It's worth it if you want to stay in larger rooms, and can plan in advance, and you love WDW, and want to be able to go more often...For me, it's totally worth it...If I didnt join, and I had to save up every time I wanted to go, I'd never have gone on half the trips I've gone on.
Hope this helps.
Just got my 1st 160 @ BLT plus 160 developer points. So right now I have 320

My Disney Trips...
Feb.. 2002 Allstar Music
Feb.. 2007 Allstar Movie
May.. 2008 off site (never again)
Nov.. 2008 Allstar Sports
Jun.. 2009 Saratoga Springs (free dvc points)
0ct.. 2009 (new dvc member) Bay Lake Tower
We have 227 at AKL, enough for atleast a 2 bedroom standard view for a week.
I only have 125 so far. I'd like to add on at the Beachclub or the Wildnerness Lodge or Hilton Head or Vero Beach or Animal Kingdom Lodge or Bay Lake Towers or Old Key West or Saratoga Springs or Grand Californian Villas or....well you get the point.
DW and I joined this past September and own 200 points. We were excited to get in when we did because we received 200 bonus points and now "own" our piece of the new AK Villas @ Kidani Village!
150 we thought was ok because of price and monthly fees.
