Disney Deluxe Villa Resorts

First they were called "Home Away From Home" resorts, then "Disney Vacation Club Resorts", and now they'll be called "Disney Deluxe Villa Resorts" -- at least for those non-DVC members who book via CRO.
Resorts debut new category name
Beginning on Aug. 16, Guests shopping for Walt Disney WorldŽ accommodations will discover a "new" category of resorts.
In an effort to alleviate confusion about the availability of Disney Vacation Club accommodations as nightly rentals, and to better describe these resorts' amenities, Disney vacation planners will use the term Disney Deluxe Villa Resorts in reference to the Disney Vacation Club properties for non-Members. (These resorts previously were listed as Disney Vacation Club Resorts.)
The Disney Deluxe Villa Resorts category tops off a line-up of Disney Resorts for every taste and budget, including Disney Value Resorts, Disney Moderate Resorts and Disney Deluxe Resorts.
As this resort category name change affects Guest rental bookings only, Disney Vacation Club Members will continue to know these properties as Disney Vacation Club Resorts.

Interesting. Maybe they're trying to make them more appealing to the non-DVC people. Instead of "come stay at other people's villas" they are now trying to sell the villas on their own value. I never thought "home away from home" was a good descriptor from a marketing perspective...the new one is much, much better.
Hopefully it will help the demand for cash paying customers for DVC villas. Without this demand, our fees for making non-DVC reservations can only go up as Disney gets stuck with DVC rooms they can't sell to cash payers.

That's one of the reasons that DVC is instituting a new $95 fee when a DVC member uses his points to stay at a WDW resort (Disney Collection). They haven't been able to rent out the rooms via CRO. The new category name is one way they hope to make folks aware they can be booked just like any other WDW resort.
